TNA Suing Scott Steiner Now

TNA has taken legal action against former TNA wrestler Scott Steiner following months of "disparaging remarks" about TNA, Hulk Hogan, and other TNA employees, according to the Nashville City Paper.

TNA filed a "verified complaint" in Nashville Chancery Court on Monday seeking an injunction to prevent more disparaging remarks from Steiner. TNA claims Steiner breached a contract he signed in 2010 that says Steiner is "forbidden from making public statements, including tweeting, concerning TNA or any of its officers, wrestlers, or other individuals without prior approval."

A court hearing has not been scheduled yet because TNA has not filed an order for injunction after requesting injunctive relief in the matter.

TNA's statement seeking legal action against Steiner reads: “In blatant disregard of the parties’ Agreement, Steiner has engaged in a concerted effort to disparage TNA, its wrestlers, and other talent and cast them in a negative light."

Also in the filing, TNA reveals that Steiner was paid $2,500 per PPV appearance during his time with TNA.

This is just farcical now.

I know nothing about legalities, but I would have assumed that the stipulation in the contract would only be enforceable while he still worked for them.

You don't see WWE doing this to those who leave them (whether by release or otherwise) that complain about them afterwards, and I think most people would consider it to be freedom of speech and his own opinion anyway.

Ya, in the states they take their free speech very seriously, I don't see how forcing someone to be quiet is legal under the first amendment. I'm not lawyer either but I would imagine that contract would be invalid. TNA grasping at straws yet again.

So they are suing someone for speaking their minds on twitter? This is ridiculous.

TNA should get this guy to be their lawyer:

Doubling down: FunnyJunk lawyer to subpoena Ars, Twitter | Ars Technica

Also, Steiner needs to show up to court in full ring gear (including head mesh) and a suit jacket.

I really wish David Otunga would rep Steiner.

Me too. Also, imagine Steiner being interviewed in court, it'd be as epic as his promos.

Though I assume that this wouldn't be a case that would require Steiner being interviewed, that would probably only be in a criminal type case.
