Next Generation War - PS4 vs Xbox One
« on: 22 May 2013, 12:56:54 AM »
With the new announcement today what's everyone's thoughts on the next gen consoles?

Personally, neither console has won me over. I kind of feel that I've got all I need on my PS3 and Xbox 360. I'll be interested to hear more information from Sony and Microsoft before even considering what machine to purchase, if I purchase either console. At the moment, if I had to choose one console, I would lean towards the PS4. I think the major announcement will be the exclusive titles each machine will have, Sony have always had this advantage but it will be interesting to see what exclusive titles Microsoft have snapped up. I'm kind of hoping they will be utter crap because I feel they are killing the industry with their focus leaning towards an entertainment system; rather then video games.

I was very underwhelmed by the xbox one. I really don't care about the kinect stuff or talking to my console and it seems to be more about the system being an entertainment system rather than a video game system which is cool and all but I'm sure most if not all of the features will only be available to xbox live gold members which sucks. i think the "trending" thing is cool where it shows you what other users are doing mostly at that time but still over all nothing blew me away and made me think i had to have one. So yeah as it stands right now I''m looking forward to the PS4 more and will be getting that console first.

Oh i was also hoping it would play 360 games since my 360 won't read disc anymore but it won't. bummer.

If I had to pick one, it would have to be the PS4 at this point.

The reports coming out about the XBOX One are confusing and make it sound like they will make it harder for you to sell games when you have completed them, and the statement that an internet connection is required - but not all of the time.

I'm not sure whether I have any interest in the social features of the PS4 though, so I would hope that it an option that can be disabled if wanted. There's also the fact that we don't even know what the PS4 console itself looks like yet!

To be honest, I don't know if I'll buy either console at all as I'm not sure I'd even use them much. If I did decide to though, it probably wouldn't be at launch.

Also, with the name being XBOX One, I doubt it will be long before some people try to scam others by selling original XBOX consoles. I guess that's only to be expected though, like the ones who will try to scam by selling JUST the cardboard box of the console (as many have done in the past with previous ones).

E3 2013: Sony Takes Direct Aim At Microsoft, PS4 Priced At $399, Many Games Revealed | Better With Popcorn

I think for most people, the PS4 has just won - though it's a shame that PS+ will be mandatory for online play (like XBOX Live Gold).

I think the used game system killed my interest in the Xbox One. I get developers lose money on used games but that shouldn't mean that they should enforce a system in which they completely control what I can do with my product and assuming the worst out of all their customers. It amazes me how many people I have seen on my facebook or on game related sites who seem to have no idea about what they would be supporting if they purchased the system.

Microsoft have now changed their mind - does this revive your interest in it?

Not at all. I may eventually get the xbox one a few years down the road when it's cheaper but I'm still going with the PS4.

For the xbox one you will still need an internet connection when you first turn on the console. I don't like that because there are a lot of people in this world that doesn't have internet and even some that can't get internet in the area they live in.
