One of the largest collections of Sega, Nintendo and PC Engine games has sold for more than $1m on eBay.

Consisting of more than 5,000 games, a bid of €999,999.99 (£793,000 / $1.23 million) was accepted by the seller.

The lot includes every game ever released on a Sega system, as well as all Nintendo games from the Nintendo Entertainment System to the Gamecube.

It also features complete factory-sealed collections from the likes of the PC Engine Hucard, PC Engine Supergrafx, PC Engine, PC Engine Super CD, PC Engine Arcade, PC-FX and Pioneer Laseractive.

Each game has been stored out of direct sunlight in a pet-free, smoke-free home.

Many were also selected out of dozens of copies to ensure that the versions in the best condition were selected for the collection.

Rare video games and complete collections have been sold for big money in recent times.

Earlier this year, a collector sold Neo-Geo game Aero Fighters 3 for $30,000.
