Escape from Boston

CM Punk has asked...no, demanded respect from his peers and the WWE fans and sought to take that respect by force by defeating John Cena at Night of Champions in Cena's backyard: the city of Boston. And Punk did walk out of Night of Champions the WWE Champion still, that much is true. But he retained via a draw, as a top rope German suplex and subsequent bridging pin from John Cena had left both men's shoulders on the mat, and the ref counted to three on both men. John Cena will undoubtedly have a lot to say about the way Punk again managed to hold onto the WWE Championship, and with Hell in a Cell looming large on the horizon, one has to wonder what the future holds for the self-professed "Best in the World" and the leader of the Cenation.

Also on Raw

The unlikely duo of Kane and Daniel Bryan managed to work through their issues and defeat Kofi Kingston and R-Truth for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Still, dysfunction continues to run rampant between the submission specialist and the Big Red Machine, as both Raw General Manager AJ Lee and anger management expert Dr. Shelby continue to fight to quell the rage of both men. How long can these two hold the tag titles before they explode?

As mentioned in the Jerry Lawler Suffers Heart Attack thread, JBL has confirmed that he will be commentating on tonight's Raw too.

Ok my prediction on tonights WWE Raw.Punk obviously starts off Raw on how he's the best in the world and with Cena giving everything he had, he couldn't get the job done.He couldn't win the big one kinda like they used to say to Jericho in WWE 2001/2.Cena comes out and complains that he had Punk, blah blah.Where I get confused is how Punk/Cena happens again.Unless AJ Lee comes out and says I reviewed the tape and Cena was screwed outta the win, I'm giving him another title shot.Maybe WWE could set it up with Punk that Cena loses that he cannot challenge Punk for the WWE Championship ever again as long as he holds the gold.

As for the United States Title situation, Cesaro/Ryder had a ok match last night.I would rather see Christan put over Cesaro let's see what happens there. Also Miz beating Cody Rhodes, could set up an awesome feud. Both are young, and hungry and great workers.I think WWE will make a Tag Team match Miz/Rhodes vs Sin Cara/Mysterio I know the match's been done before but the WWE gives two shits about repeating matches in a short span.

Ok now onto Team Friendship? Does Truth/Kofi get an rematch, and if they do does R-Truth turn on Kofi to break them up.I would love to see PTP get a shot and maybe win the gold down the line, but Team Friendship is going to be money, no matter what they do.If they do a fake Disneyland trip like they did with R-Truth I might faint! Now what about the Ziggler/Orton feud? I mean I was shocked Orton won as rumors are spreading Orton's leaving. You know Ziggler won't take that loss and not come back strong, hopefully Orton vs Ziggler 2...and Orton fucking loses this time.

Divas Title situation could Kaitlyn get her title shot tonight and if she does will Layla take that and not lose her damn mind and try to get involved.I said before triple threat match at NOC could of made everyone happen but no WWE is teasing us to have Kaitlyn win the Divas title damn them!Overall should be an Raw that I am looking forward to, see you here for the Live Discussion!

Can we just take a moment to reflect on how Kane and D-Bry yelling "*I* AM THE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS" makes absolutely no sense? It's amazing though.

Think I'll have a wank over these tomorrow.

It's the best thing going in wrestling today.

I thought Raw was solid, I like Heyman speaking for Punk. i know Punk is great on the mic but it can make his promos mean more if he has Heyman talk for him more of the time.

I'm starting to find Sheamus out of the ring sort of likable lately. Is something wrong with me?

Raw seemed to have a theme this week.they had a lot of matches and had a lot of guys featured but all of the matches outcomes were extremely obvious.

Wade Barret vs Justin Gabriel
Brodus Clay vs Heath Slater
Rey & Cara vs Epico & Primo
Sandow vs Ryder
Kane & Bryan vs Kofi & Truth
Ziggler vs Santino
Orton vs Albert

But a lot of these matches got a decent amount of time and were actually good so i enjoyed it.

I was really liking the crowed too. i never thought i would hear a "We want nexus" chant.

The feed me more stuff with ryback and jarrod from subway made me laugh.

The Miz TV stuff seemed like a bit of a miss to be honest, I'm wondering if they are gonna do a Miz vs Ryback feud for the IC title now. i can't see Ryback as a mid card champion to be honest and i also can't see Miz being the first guy to beat him.

I didn't enjoy the commentary as much because 3 men is just too much. they should have had JBL do this show with Cole and have JR do next week with Cole. Overall though i am loving JBL back on commentary i hope after he gets done climbing mountains and shit he comes back and works every week on commentary.

Overall i thought it was a solid show. looking forward to SD and seeing sheamus start a new feud...or at least im hoping.

I liked when he said he was the "voice of the voice of the voiceless." Heyman is gold on the mic and even though Punk is the best talker in WWE it makes sense to pair them together.

He's entertaining but I don't think he's "likable" by the strictest definition of the word. He's a racist bully who kicks people in the face during legal proceedings and steals cars and takes them on joyrides :P.  It makes absolutely no sense considering he's a face, but I guess they're trying to make him a sort of 2012 Austin in that sense.

I think Ryback needs a midcard title before he goes higher, he would make it mean more and considering Miz is a former WWE champ I don't think it's necessarily as mid-card as it is high-mid-card.

I thought Punk checking Heyman's watch during his entrance was nice touch too. :D

I only just watched last weeks RAW but felt like I should just say that Miz TV was really awkward to watch, he got completely flustered and just copy and pasted what Jericho would normally do. He's been ok since coming back, but I think its obvious that the guy just doesn't have any of the qualities to be a main eventer at the moment, I personally don't see him getting much better either, it was a bad decision to have him main event mania.

Also feel like saying that they've completely killed AJ's character, I think we all agreed making her permanent GM was a bad decision at the time, but personally I thought it had the potential to be a good decision if they executed it right by making her the crazy indecisive gm; but they haven't. They've completely forgotten the one thing that made her character interesting and just give her constant face decisions, killing her character and making her role as GM boring and forgettable. It could have been a good decision though, she is a new character who has been given a golden chance to be a staple part of the show and could easily staple her position as the next staple divas star, which feels like it might not happen now.

JBL on commentary was proper quality, really hope he sticks around, I think JR was alright as well.

Besides all that, I'm enjoying everything at the moment, especially Sandow.

Also I think Ryback feuding for intercontinental title should be good, kind of wish they would do something with Barrett as well.

JBL's climbing a mountain right now, so he won't be back.

Yeah Miz TV was terrible. I too have enjoyed him since he came back but that was just poor. I think the guy needs to focus more on repackaging and not just being a Jericho clone. When he had the dyed black mohican and the punk rock dress sense he had a lot more identity than he has had as a suit wearing Jericho clone, pyjama wearing jock or leather coat Edge wannabee look.
I just see him as a wannabee still although I like him a hell of a lot more than I did when he was in the main event. He is a decent midcarder.

Yeah I like him as just a staple midcarder, but I honestly don't see him as anything better. I think he looks better then he used to, the punk rocker and pyjama images just made him look like a kid, he looks seedy at the moment which i prefer. He definitely needs his own identity though, he hogs off others ideas far too much, I actually think he needs a face turn fairly soon as well, the whole I'm The Miz and I'm Awesome thing just feels a bit out of date now.

Yeah the whole "I'm awesome" cocky heel attitude works well for a young guy but now he is getting older he needs to be a bit more in date. Jericho mastered this, he was the long haired punkass who told everyone to shut the hell up but as he got older he became a manipulative, sadistic and cunning cynic instead of a prettyboy with attitude. Miz needs to adapt. To be honest he should be head of this Mahal/McIntyre/Slater stuff.

The Miz hasn't got much of a selling point in general, that's why he's a mid carder at best. He's got no build/presence, he's boring in the ring, he's been found out on the mic as a one trick pony and he lacks an identity. He has had these problems for about 3 years now and hardly developed.

The only thing he has going for him is his delivery on the mic is pretty good, but his content has been the same for about 3 years and everyone's bored of it. For a guy that relies more on his entertainment skills rather then his wrestling ability, its pretty bad that he continues to churn out the same recycled promos week in week out or borrow from a guy like Jericho. Honestly with the current roster, he is way down the pecking order of people I would like to see appear, amazes me that WWE put a years worth of build and faith in a guy of lesser talent then most of the roster.

What made Miz what he was was the fact he was so over as a heel. he got more heel heat than anyone. he's just not getting that anymore and a lot of people just don't seem to care.

I'm not sure what his character is supposed to be right now but they like to talk about him in movies so if they are gonna go a movie star route with him go all out on it. have him show up with a celebrity friend every week. have him come down with a red carpet or something. there is a lot you can do with that but if you're gonna do it try to go all out on it.
