*OFFICIAL* Raw Discussion Thread: April 16th 2012
« on: 16 April 2012, 10:08:44 PM »

Mark Henry gets his third shot at the WWE Title. In the O2 Arena in London, WWE Champion CM Punk will have no easy way out after retaining his title twice via DQ and Count Out in recent weeks. Henry believed that he was screwed out of the WWE Title, which led to John Laurinaitis making this rematch with no disqualifications. With CM Punk's mind focused on Chris Jericho's personal attacks, can the WWE Champion remain focused enough to defeat the World's Strongest Man? Or will we crown a new WWE Champion?

Courtesy of Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis, the Brock Lesnar-John Cena match at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view has been changed to a no-disqualification, no count-out Extreme Rules Match.
Why didn't that wait until Raw to be announced?

As first revealed by a WWE Breaking News alert, WWE Champion CM Punk has reportedly been spotted in a London pub just hours before his title defense against Mark Henry tonight on Raw SuperShow.
Obviously they are going to continue with this storyline, I'd assume that the "source" for this alert is going to be revealed as Chris Jericho.

WWE Raw Supershow (Airing on USA

* Lilian Garcia Sang "God Save The Queen"

* Mark Henry comes out to open the show. The No DQ, No Count Out WWE Title Match with Henry and CM Punk is up first. They have a good solid match and brawl outside the ring a lot. Punk uses a chair and other stuff. Punk ends up getting the win to retain the WWE Title after hitting an elbow drop from the top with a steel chair.

* Chris Jericho promo is up next. Jericho vs. Punk for the WWE Title in a Chicago Street Fight is announced for Extreme Rules. Jericho taunts Punk and shows footage from earlier today of Punk entering a local bar/pub. Jericho wonders if Punk is drunk. Punk tell him to come find out and then says he was having fish and chips with his friends. Jericho says it's no longer about being the best - it's about beating Punk's ass.

* Santino Marella defeated David Otunga to retain the WWE United States Title. Santino wins a quick match with the Cobra.

* Josh Mathews is backstage with Lord Tensai. Tensai talks in Japanese and says something about knowing what to fear and fearing the unknown.

WWE flashes a graphic touting WrestleMania 28's 1.3 million pay-per-view buys.

* Brock Lesnar promo on the big screen. Lesnar says he isn't a WWE Superstar, he's an ass kicker. Lesnar says he doesn't care about anyone and isn't here for a feel good moment. WWE needs someone to legitimize it and he's the real deal to do it. Lesnar calls John Cena fake and says everyone is tired of his bullshit. They keep bleeping him out. He says Cena is pissing and shitting himself. Lesnar says beating Cena up in the Extreme Rules match at Extreme Rules will make him happy.

* Kane defeated Zack Ryder after KO'ing him with a chokeslam. Kane talked about Randy Orton and what happened on SmackDown with Cowboy Bob Orton. They played Kane's old Man on Fire music as he left.

* Backstage segment with AJ Lee and Kofi Kingston when Daniel Bryan walks up. Lots of YES chants from the crowd. He's re-named the LaBell Lock the Yes Lock.

* John Cena comes to the ring. He talks about how WrestleMania 28 could have been the end of his era and about how John Laurinaitis wants to replace him. Cena talks about Lesnar and Extreme Rules. Cena says Lesnar is right - he is afraid but he will still fight. Out comes Laurinaitis. He says it's the beginning of the People Power Era. Laurinaitis announces an Extreme Rules match for Cena tonight but won't name the opponent. He also announces a contract singing for next week's 3 hour RAW with Cena and Lesnar.

* Backstage comedy segment with Hornswoggle and R-Truth, dressed as Sherlock Holmes.

* Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan is up next. Huge YES chants for Bryan. Bryan wins after a good back and forth match with the Yes Lock, formerly the LaBell Lock. The crowd goes nuts for Bryan. Bryan re-applied the hold after the match until Sheamus came out. Bryan dodged a Brogue Kick and left as the crowd was still chanting.

* Brodus Clay beat Dolph Ziggler by DQ when Jack Swagger interfered. Vickie Guerrero got into it at ringside with one of Clay's dancers. Clay and his dancers dance in the ring to end it.

* A video for the late Chief Jay Strongbow airs.

* Big Show and The Great Khali vs. Epico and Primo is up next. Abraham Washington watches the match from up on the ramp. Show and Khali get the win after a double choke slam.

* John Cena comes out for his Extreme Rules match against a mystery man. That mystery man is none other than Lord Tensai. Laurinaitis comes out and watches Tensai dominate Cena. Cena finally makes a comeback but Sakamoto attacks him. David Otunga also got involved at one point. Tensai spit the green mist into Cena's face to get the surprising win and end RAW.

Didn't even read those but i did look at the non spoiler match listings and it looks to be a really weak show.

Punk was getting fish and chips at a pub in England. Because that's the only place you can get fish and chips, obviously.

It just seemed to make more sense to announce at the show rather than a few hours before it.

It's true, I was wondering earlier why they felt the need to have those there each time they visit the UK.

Punk was getting fish and chips at a pub in England. Because that's the only place you can get fish and chips, obviously.
Of course, it's not as if there are places dedicated to it. :P

Well if it wasn't contingent on any big twist then it might give people a reason to tune into the show later on or start trending before Raw hits the air. Brock wasn't going to be on RAW anyway other than via tape. It's just another measure of hype.

Speaking of Brock via tape that was the only part of this weeks how that i enjoyed. Punk vs Henry wasn't bad but the rest i could have done without.

I don't even remember what all was on Raw. but i know Ryder jobbed to someone again. he jobs to someone every week now. its a shame what they have done with him, he got super over and then they made him look like crap with that storyline with kane and cena. then he comes back only to job to someone every week.

A lot like ziggler. Ziggler before the rumble had so much momentum and he hasn't stopped performing greatly but all he has done is job since then. this week was no different i believe. i just know i saw Clay throwing him up at some point.

And then the only other thing i recall was albert beating john cena. which i dont like at all. Albert has been nothing but a bore to me and he isn't getting over either. the only reaction he gets is the taunting "albeeeert" chants. i don't think anyone but WWE Creative or whoever has chose to push this guy is buying this. Of course this opens up the chance for someone to say something like "The IWC always finds something to complain about, Cena wins they complain and if he loses they complain" which i have heard countless times and i just find it to be be the most ignorant argument ever. If it was Daniel Bryan beating Cena or Cody Rhodes or Dolph Ziggler or Kofi kingston...hell i could make a huge list of guys i would love to beat Cena. the issue i have is that it was a guy that hasn't gotten over at all and someone i have found incredibly boring and laughable most of the time.

Anyways i obviously didn't enjoy this weeks raw. I'm hoping they do have some sort of draft and make it where the brand split actually matters again and we get some things freshended up because besides the main event stuff like Cena/Lesnar. Punk/Jericho and anything Daniel Bryan does everything else just isn't interesting me at all.

I really don't understand the hate for Tensai. If you don't like him, you don't like him, but I find him refreshing as a big guy. He can work, he can pull off some big spots and he has a well-worked gimmick. They gave him a bit of a background and acknowledged his WWE past this week and gave him a surprise win over Cena. I think it may have been a bit fast but I guess they're banking on the fact that he's a "former WWE star" who refined his skills or whatever, and it's better than watching him squash nobodies every week. Plus the match itself was pretty good.

I actually thought RAW overall was pretty good, the only bad part was Otunga vs. Santino. Otunga is a disaster in the ring and needs to be wrestling a lot more if he's going to be a big part of the show cause he can't be part of big storylines and not be able to take a bump in th ering. It's embarrassing.

Chappers and I were at this Raw. The crowd was really into it and that came across on T.V.
Loved it. I thought the show was awesome (it was live at least) and I don't really have a problem with any of it. That Dean Ambrose was in the dark match, he seems pretty scrawny for a wrestler and didn't look very hygienic, he was getting 'GREASY' chants. Great show. Highlights were when the show went off the air

1. Got to high five Randy Orton
2. After the show finished two teens jumped on stage and started break dancing. Justin Roberts ran in the ring and tried to clothesline one of them. Then security caught them. Fucking funny, Roberts is the man.

I quite liked this Raw, but I didn't like the "What?" chant during the Kane promo.

I thought we'd finally got rid of that!  :tickedoff:

Haha its right here:

It was well funny seeing that though, he looked like he was ready to just completely flaw them but instead fell flat on his face in front of everyone :2funny:

I'll upload some photos from the show later on.
