Official Raw Discussion thread 10-31

The Rock is ready to "Just Bring It" – his response, that is – to WWE Raw SuperShow!

As Michael Cole stated on Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock is expected to answer John Cena's request to be his tag team partner against The "Awesome Truth" at Survivor Series this Monday night in Atlanta – the same city where Rock and Cena made history agreeing to face each other in Miami at WrestleMania XXVIII.

Will The Great One be amicable to teaming with his WrestleMania opponent just months away from the biggest main event in WWE history? Or will Rock tell Cena to find someone else to partner with against the poisonous pairing of The Miz & R-Truth at Madison Square Garden? And what would Cena's next option be if he faces rejection from The Rock?

Find out the answers to this and more on what will surely be an electrifying night in Atlanta LIVE Monday night at 9/8 CT on USA Network!

Careful what you wish for, CM Punk. After asking for a WWE Title Match against Alberto Del Rio on Monday night’s Raw Supershow, it appears the anti-establishment Superstar may finally get what he wants – but only if he can overcome The World’s Strongest Man.

The Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Interim General Manager of Raw, John Laurinaitis, issued a statement arranging a match on Monday night between Punk and World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry. Should Punk prevail, he will earn a WWE Title Match at Survivor Series against Alberto Del Rio. For Mr. Laurinaitis’ full statement, please see below:

"After giving this CM Punk situation serious consideration, I've reached a decision. In my deliberations as Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Interim General Manager of Raw, I concluded that although Punk is extremely talented, he has lost several matches recently. As a result, I've decided that he must prove he's worthy of a WWE Title opportunity. This Monday night, Punk must compete against World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry. If Punk wins, he will face Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series. I wish both men a good match." To celebrate their first theatrical release in more than a decade – Disney’s "The Muppets," opening this Thanksgiving – the Muppets will step into the ring on the Oct. 31 WWE Raw SuperShow to mix it up with the Superstars in Atlanta.

In the new film, "The Muppets," the crew is on a mission to save the Muppet Theater from demolition. (OFFICIAL TRAILER) But before that, they'll have to save themselves from our Superstars!

What will happen when Kermit the Frog meets The Viper? Will the Divas make Miss Piggy flip with jealousy? Will Beaker be confused for Sheamus? On Halloween, it's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights, because the Muppets are about to get Raw!

Muppets tonight should be funny to watch the segments! The Rock on Raw, you know a promo that will blow us away away! Punk will beat Henry, cause he's getting that push he deserves, should be a wonderful show.

So how did everyone like the show? I Really enjoyed it, probably one of my faveorite raws in recent weeks since it's been pretty bad recently.

Rock opening the show Via satellite at first i was a little meh with it but i think Rock did a good job with his promo and i thought it was interesting. i was hoping he would just outright decline being cenas partner then next week decide to become his partner or something. Last night i kind of started looking at Rock vs Cena in a different way than i have before. Before i looked at it as just Rock vs Cena but now im looking at it more as Rock is the heel and Cena is the face and i think i like it better like that. because really The Rock has no legit comeback for Cena. Cena is there every night and Rock is rarely ever there. i guess the only thing Rock could say is that at least he walked away and didn't hog up the main event for years like Cena is doing or that if Rock didn't walk away Cena wouldn't have become the star he is today because Rock would still be the biggest star.

Punk vs Henry. this had rewrite written all over it. I feel like they were like "Oh shit we don't want our world champ who we have made so dominant to lose cleanly to a guy this size...why did we book this? lets find a way out" so they went with the DQ route which i really liked and i have always thought of this strategy in this type of match myself it was real and i was the real bad guy i would do the same. now what did annoy me is that Ricardo was beating on Henry and they didn't call a DQ when they happened which would have been a DQ in any other match but then once he takes his shoe off and starts hitting him they call it.

Divas Battle Roayl was meh. they have the same girls in there at the end that are always in the main diva storyline. I want to see AJ break out and become the one that knocks off Beth for the Divas title. it could be like the Rey mysterio vs Big show of Divas. but Eve wins it so we get Eve vs Beth again...bleh. i would have even rather seen Kelly win it or alicia for that matter. or how about Natalya vs Beth?

All the muppets stuff was good i enjoyed everything expect the Fozzy/Gonzo part kind of fell flat. of course the highllight of the night came when Sheamus met Beeker or whatever his name is. and they looked just alike and it was revealed they were actually family members!!!  :mrk

Air boom vs Rhodes & Barret was good but it just didn't make much sense to me. for one Barret and Rhodes shouldn't be teaming together these are 2 singles stars and they just beat the tag champs...i wonder if it had anything to do with Bournes suspension? More than likely so the booking didn't make much sense to me but i enjoyed the match its self and though Barret does bore me in the ring he seems to be getting better and maybe this is how i would like him in a tag team. I'll suggest putting him in a team with Drew Mcintyre again.

Big show vs Del Rio was really good. Big show has been looking great since his return honestly this might be the most i have ever enjoyed big show. i think he's better in the ring than ever and he's looking to be in good health too so his time off seems to have done good for him. if i was WWE i would take him off of the road and just have him do TV beings he's such a big guy and he's getting older and when he does have rest he seems to be so much better. anyways the match was really good and was match of the night for me i don't really mind ADR losing here though i feel like i should.

Aftermath with Punk getting his title match i liked. wish he would have put the mic up to ADR's face while he had the vice on but oh well it worked. "HE SAID YES!"  :giggle

Santino vs Swagger was just badfor the most part. crowed was pretty dead other than some "We Want Ryder" Chants and it just didn't seem to work. the end was fun and for the kids so i hope they liked it.

Ziggler vs Ryder was a really good match. it was given more time than i expected and i didn't think Ryder would win it beings Ziggler already beat him at the last PPV i thought they were over Ryder and was moving on to Mason Ryan vs Ziggler but im glad that doesn't seem to be the case. ryan wasn't on the show as far as i saw which i was happy with. and Ryder got the win over Ziggler. Ryder was so over in this match and they let him get some more offense in too which was nice because his matches have been really short on Raw. I'm hoping this leads to Zack Ryder winning the US championship in MSG at Survivor series. what a great moment that would be.

They showed the Nash/Triple H stuff from last week which at this point i had already forgotten about which just shows you how much that storyline doesn't interest me. Nash is gonna be back on Raw next week im still thinking he and Triple H will have some sort of fight at survivor series.

Then they ran short on time and scrapped the JR/Cole stuff which im glad they did. cole did some stupid shit with a diaper which i don't think anyone finds funny and it just seems like a waste of time and space. this may lead to Cole being off Raw though so that might work out well at least we would be rid of these announcer storylines we have had to sit through mostly all year.

Cena vs Miz i didn't even bother to watch. there match at mania wasn't good so i didn't expect this ti be any better. I did see the end with Cena winning and then giving Truth the AA with truth having the mask on which just kind of made Miz and Truth look weak and kind of like a joke which has been one of the issues i have had with them anyways.

Overall it wasn't a great show by any means but i did really enjoy it. probably because there were a lot of different things going on.

I really enjoyed this Raw, especially the part with Beaker and Sheamus. I agree that the microphone should have been put to Del Rio in the Anaconda Vice as I think it would have worked better that way, and so was surprised that he didn't, but like Adam said above, it worked anyway.

Though The Rock started the show off with a video, I was thinking that they were going to play off what R-Truth and The Miz predicted about The Rock and John Cena fighting between themselves before Survivor Series, and because of this have The Rock interfere in the Cena/Miz match just like he did at WrestleMania. Obviously that didn't happen, but I thought that it would be one of those "fighting between themselves for a couple of weeks, and then on the same page for the PPV" type of situations if it had.

I loved how Miss Piggy smacked Hornswoggle, and the team of Barrett and Rhodes was cool, Punk was good and so were the Muppets, but other then that it seemed like another bland predictable wrestling week. The Rock cut the same old recycled promo and seems to try all this epic pausing stuff which just doesn't do anything as I'm a fruity pebbles guy and no surprises that he couldn't make the show, what a let down. Cena beating Miz just makes the PPV match predictable and pointless, and in terms of storyline if he can take on both Miz and Truth tonight whats the point in needing The Rock. Saying that though I don't mind Cena beating Miz since Miz shouldn't be where he is. Can they give the title to Ryder already as well, as much as I like the guy he's holding Ziggler back which tbh is more annoying even though I love a bit of WOO WOO WOO YOU KNOW IT. Swagger is once again shown to be the most misdirected guy on the roster, even if Santino made me laugh really hard with the Kelly Kelly thing early in the show. Kevin Nash vs Triple H is a story which I couldn't care about which is funny seeing as the backstage segment last week was good but I don't like either guy and tbh I can't stand HHH. Maybe I didn't enjoy this show so much because I wasn't paying too much attention to the matches, but imo, it just seemed like another week of RAW with its entertaining moments but for the most part the same results and same people at the top of the chain.
