Raw Discussion for May 9th 2011
« on: 10 May 2011, 09:32:31 PM »
Oddly it seems we didn't have a Raw Thread for this week unless I'm missing something? well im not the best to come up with any snazzy little puns like we usually have for the title so lets just say what we thought of the show.

Opening segment i loved, mainly because i really like hearing R-Truth on the mic these days i find it crazy and funny. i loved when he said "when an anagry black mans talking yall need to shut up" and then del rio,miz and rey all almost started laughing.  I also enjoyed when Ricardo hit that drop kick on Riley.lol.

I skipped the divas but watched the kharma attack and enjoyed it especially it being on Eve.didn't get as big of a reaction as she got on SD though.

Kane vs Mason Ryan was ok i guess i thought they would make mason Ryan look good again this week but they didn't really. hell they made all of nexus look bad, what a drop that group has taken especially MM and Otunga they are just know as little goons to become rubble and only good for a distraction. I really wish they would just kill the nexus group off for good no one cares about them anymore.

Ziggler vs Santino was...well it was good to see Ziggler get a match and a win. noo realy storyline or anythig here, just probably didn't have anything for Dolph which is a shame but Raw is pretty low on Faces though they could have started some sort of feud with ziggler and bourne. but eh oh well i guess they were just trying to get zioggler over a bit more.

Zack Ryder and John Cena fist umping was the highlight of the night for Raw. it honestly makes me like Cena more and i bet Zack wouldn't even be on the show but Cena probably requested it. just my guess though.

Then we have the Alex Riley stuff which i didn't think was bad but im just sick of him being with Miz. i thought he wouldn't be after the draft and they would go there own ways and it even looked like they might tonight. i thought him getting squashed by Cena was pretty much his farwell but it doesn't look like it was. it also gave away the result of the main event being Miz came out there and him and Cena built there feud up a bit but we didn't see del rio or rey.

Lawler,Cole,Swagger stuff i thought was actually pretty good. it didn't piss me off as it has done in recent weeks but im still sick of this feud. as we said in the chat when lawler was pulling Coles tie all i could think about was Daniel BRyan choking Justin Roberts with a tie last year, which i still think wasn't a legit firing but just a WWe created storyline for the internet to rally around him more so when he came back it would be a bigger deal.

Swagger vs Kingston was good, i totally thought we were gonna see Swagger become US champion which i would have liked, but the end made sense and kofi winning isn'ta bad thing either. then Swagger accepting the match on Cole's behalf is interesting i think king HAS to win this upcoming match which might be the end of cole loving Swagger which wouldn't be too good or maybe we get a Swagger face turn beings raw has overloaded themselves with heels.

Main event i thought was great fro the most part, ending a bit predictable but the match was good and i was really rooting for Rey to win this because i would love to see Cena vs Rey at the PPV for the title i think they would have a great match.

Miz won though with Riley redeeming himself which was kind of enjoyable because i just felt sorry for him and kind of annoying since it looks like he and miz will be together longer on Raw.

R-Truth attack on Rey i liked but it makes me wonder if Rey is gonna face Truth at over the limit i wonder What ALberto will be doing? obviously morrison injury made some changes here but it will be interesting to see where this goes.

No Drew Mcintyre tis week. like a lot of us thought him going to Raw with all those heels would not be a good idea. don't expecvt a push for Drew anytime soon he will probably end up like MVP but a heel which is a shame.

No Evan Bourne this week, Such a waste of Talent. i think Bourne is the best high flyer in the WWE and is a lot better than Sin Cara just doesn't have the backing. i would love for bourne to start getting a push and a much deserved one i believe.

Overall i thought raw was pretty enjoyable.

Here's the Dark matches and the Superstars matches for Raw.

Quote
- Former WWE World Tag Team Champion Trevor Murdoch worked a dark match prior to tonight's Raw taping in Knoxville, Tennessee. He lost to Evan Bourne.

Murdoch was was released from his contract with WWE on July 3, 2008.

- Matches taped tonight in Knoxville, Tennessee for this week's episode of WWE Superstars are as follows:

* Chris Masters vs. Drew McIntyre

* Vladimir Kozlov vs. Zack Ryder

- The Golf Canada's 2011 Team Ambassadors for Golf Fore the Cure has announced that Trish Stratus will take part in the program to bring awareness to breast cancer.

Gotta hope Drew and Zack pick up wins this week on superstars. not like it really matters though since no one watches it. more people watch Z! true long island story. I'm sure the Mrudoch dark math was a one time thing.

Trevor Murdoch, I fucking loved that guy he was amazing, as was the team of Cade (RIP) & Murdoch. Him & Jeremiah from Tough Enough to team up as a pair of cowboys :D

Cba going through the whole show, but I honestly thought it was garbage and funnily enough I actually find watching Raw now alot less entertaining because of the draft. I hate the way he was booked but I kind of miss Orton on RAW, I miss Sin Cara and his crazy spots and I also miss the likes of Sheamus.

The Cole & Lawler is just dreadful now and HAS to come to and end at OTL but I don't have any faith in that happening.

The Mason Ryan stuff I didn't mind. He looked good in the match and was taken out by a double chokeslam to emphasise how much of a beast they're building him up to be.

When I see Miz coming to the ring now in his wrestling gear without the WWE championship, I honestly don't picture him as a main eventer at all, he just looks like a midcarder to me.

Agreed about The Miz looking about 7 but to be fair his past few matches have been main event worthy.

Mickie- I'm surprised you miss Orton on Raw, the whole time he was there you called him Super Orton and got annoyed by his huge pushes.

Onto my thoughts anyway.
I thought the show was ok but I don't like how they are going about things. For one Cole/Lawler gets way too much time, secondly although Miz and Cena have had some great matches I am not overly keen on him winning the main event.

What I loved was R-Truth- if ever they wanted to turn Cena heel they should make Truth his henchman who screws people out of matches (like say Truth was meant to go in the main event to help Cena win and then screwed Morrison at the PPV to help Cena.)

I also loved the way the IC title got defended, I hope there are plenty more US matches to come because it is the best thing to watch that isn't the main event.
I liked the main event itself too, quite a good match but it feels a bit odd having Mysterio/Del Rio/Miz carry the show in that regard.

Orton may have been super-pushed on RAW, but he never had the title. Goes to SD two weeks and he's the champion lol.

Overall pretty good show. I think Truth is going to keep taking people people out including Del Rio, so I think we'll still have ADR vs REY at OTL.

Cena/Miz/Riley stuff was perfect build IMO. Loved the little Ryder spot too lol.

I agree that the announcer feud needs to end but this promo was pretty good. Simple, good match in the middle, Lawler gets a small measure of revenge in the end, Swagger gets goaded into making the match. But for the love of God, give Lawler the win, make it loser leaves RAW and get this shit over with already.

Finally, Ziggler looks fucking ridiculous. His hair is more ridiculous than his bleach job, and what's going on on his body is beyond a man tan. He was fucking glowing red. I don't understand why they changed his look. He looked awesome before, now he just looks like every other guy.

And Murdoch :mrk

Think I'll have a wank over these tomorrow.

The more I've seen recently from Dolph Ziggler, the more I think they are leading him towards a major blowup with Vickie leading to a face turn.  I think Ziggler is going to be pissed off that she changed his entire identity and not have the same success that he did on Smackdown.  Currently, Ziggler looks like any generic wrestler, but if you look at the size of his body, add jean shorts and tennis shoes he shockingly looks a lot like John Cena.  This new look is basically the Prototype.  I really think they have an enormous babyface run inside this guy......

I thought RAW was pretty bad this week to be honest and I'll say why quite simply:

Cena vs Miz's feud is continued
Lawler vs Cole's feud is continued
ADR vs Rey Mysterio feud keeps getting teased (although I'm hoping they will make it Rey vs Truth at OTL)

And everything else was just pointless.

I thought the draft would shake things up and it hasn't happened on RAW. I was hoping when Cole came out to the ring his big announcement would be his retirement from commentary, which didn't happen. I'm a big fan of his heel character but I think he can make for an awesome manager for Swagger and nothing is happening with that.

This RAW should have been the start of some new, fresh feuds and other then Rey vs Truth, nothing happened.

Primo would have a major babyface run in him if he was paired up with Vickie. It's not that hard to turn face after being paired with her. He does have potential and that's not a bad idea, but he still looks fucking ridiculous.

Agreed, since his debut (well not spirit squad but his debut as Ziggler) I said the guy will be the future of the company some day and I still believe it.

And PraxI don't think he looks that ridiculous, The Miz looks much stupider and he made it.

About 90% of them are glowing red each week, it's not out of the ordinary anymore I guess?

I meant comparatively speaking to the rest. He stood out, in a bad way.

I didn't take note of him glowing red, triple h is normally the worst one for this as he's old now. I think Ziggler looks better without that cheesy blonde look though but he's looking to have dropped down the roster a bit since moving to RAW which is a shame as he is an ex champion lol.

I noticed it but didn't think anything of it. as long as its not as bad as matt hardy had that one time its no big deal.
