Who was your fighter of the year?
For me, surprisingly, it was Josh Koscheck. This guy takes everything that's given to him and doesn't complain, even though IMO he should be facing GSP in his next fight (although they're probably protecting him for the moment). He lost his first match of the year against Thiago, but owned Trigg and Johnson and he did it in the span of two months. I think there are big things in store for this guy in 2010.
GSP comes in second for me, although he didn't really have a big challenge IMO. Alves was an easy fight for him, and although it was more impressive, so was Penn, who was totally out of shape going into that fight. Still, the guy is so popular and so dominant you kind of have to give him consideration. If he hadn't gotten injured and got to face Hardy or who ever before 2009 was up, the award would have been his for sure, at least from me.
Machida has to be up there as well with 3 wins (2 dominant ones) in 2009.
Other honoerable mentions should be: Fedor, BJ Penn (even though he lost in January he admittedly impressed me vs. Florian and Sanchez, I thought he would lost both fights going in and he totally owned both of them), Shogun, and Henderson.
