Brock Lesnar -- the UFC Heavyweight Champ -- is in "bad shape" according to UFC president Dana White and won't be fighting anytime soon.

White made the announcement after UFC 105 last night, saying "He's in a hospital up in North Dakota somewhere right now. He went to Canada and some bad stuff happened to him, so we've got to figure it out ... He doesn't want to talk about it publicly, but he's in bad shape. He's not well and he's not going to be getting well anytime soon."

Lesnar originally pulled out of a November 18 fight and reports suggested he had swine flu. The fight was rescheduled for January 2, but then it was announced Lesnar had mononucleosis.

But White made it clear, Lesnar's problems go beyond mono: "He is not good. He is very, very sick and he's going to be out for a while.

This is very bad news for the UFC. Obviously it was speculated he had Swine Flu and then Mono, but it sounds much worse than that and I hope he'll get better and be able to fight sooner rather than later.

The question this poses though, what does Dana do about the championship?

Lesnar hasn't fought since June, and it's possible he won't be fighting for close to a year or even longer. That's about the timeframe Randy Couture was out if I'm not mistaken.

He would be smart to make another interim championship, because no matter how much it sucks for Brock, it also sucks for Shane Carwin and any other potential champion.

Think I'll have a wank over these tomorrow.

Yeah this really sucks for brock and the UFC fans but i bet there are some stupid UFC fans out there happy about this. i hope brock gets well i don't want to see anything bad happen to the guy. but i do agree they should have a interim championship because for me as a casual UFC fan if a card doesn't have some sort of championship on it it doesn't capture my interest. and having the main championship out of the picture not only hurts in a way where they lose another championship fight but also hurt because you're lacking a face of your company even if a lot of people hated that face.

HMMM.... If he is that sick I wonder if they'll create an interim title. I could see Carwin and Velasquez fighting over it.

DEVELOPMENTS!

latest from observer.com:

Dana White, in an interview with TMZ.com today, said that Brock Lesnar is being brought to the Mayo Clinic and will require major surgery. White wouldn't specify exactly what was wrong with him other than ruling out cancer, and saying that he has an intestinal disorder.

White said he will attempt to get Lesnar, 32, transfered to the Mayo Clininc in Rochester, MN. He is currently hospitalized in North Dakota.

White said there was a "possibility" that Lesnar's career is over.

All I can is WOW...

Good, long story about the situation:

Lesnar's rocky road takes another turn - UFC - Yahoo! Canada Sports

Kind of takes some shots at pro wrestling but that's ok... The story really makes Lesnar look like a good guy, not the douche in his post UFC-100 interview.

Either way, kind of sounds like it was some really bad food poisoning to me. I hope he pulls through.

The Mayo Clinic is serious business.  They specialize in cancer treatment so we can only hope that isn't the case.  My father was in and out of there for the last 6-7 years treating his liver cancer so I know first hand that ain't no joke to have to go there for any kind of treatment.  Then again being a millionaire, maybe he just wanted the best treatment available.

White said that it isn't cancer or HIV.

UFC President Dana White spoke to Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday and provided yet another update on Brock Lesnar's health status. While it was reported earlier this week that Lesnar was suffering from a bacterial infection in his intestines, it turns out he actually had a hole in his intestine and has not been 100% for an entire year.

"Brock was in big pain, he was hurting.... We don
