Ortiz and Griffin is worth this PPV alone TBH.. It will be a good show and Brock Vs Carwin really wasn't a buying point to me. I mean sure, its Brock. But Carwin? He has had one marquee win and he got dominated that fight and threw 1 punch that landed square and knocked Gonzaga the fuck out. I am still watching this PPV regardless.

Carwin is underrated IMO, he'll be Brock's toughest fight yet when they finally lock up IMO.

Ortiz and Griffin is good, but just that makes it a one-fight card. There's nothing else on 106. You may watch it, but, assuming UFC was in your budget and you usually buy a few PPVs a year, would you pay for UFC 106 if the card stays as is? I probably won't, and that's why they need to move the Couture fight. They're lucky 105 is like a week before.

Think I'll have a wank over these tomorrow.

Truthfully, if I do watch I might go to Hooters where there is no cover charge.... Otherwise I might wait and watch it online like I do with almost every card. I'm not trying to dis-credit Carwin... But Gonzaga had him and Carwin threw a nice punch and dropped him. I looked at everyone Carwin has fought and besides Gonzaga there all no names. I think will be Brocks toughest fight due to Carwin's size... But other then that not much else will present problems to Brock.

To be fair, Shogun ''dominated'' machida and he still lost. Sometimes appearances can be deceiving. And yes, sometimes Dana While isn't the fairest of men, but he knows a good fighter when he sees one and IMO he obviously sees something in Carwin we haven't seen in his fight and he feels he matches up well with Lesnar. Unless, of course, he's feeding fighters to Lesnar so he can have a long reign instead of giving him challenging fights (not like there are many challenging fights for him anyway), which is possible.

He SHOULD beat Carwin, but I have a feeling that's what Dana wants us to believe...

But ya, I'm gonna try to watch it regardless, I'm just saying Tito vs. Griffin is great and I'm hyped for it, but I won't pay 60 bucks for it and I don't think too many other people will either.

I'm still to the MMA world so my views might not make much sense, but imo Shogun won that fight and should be the new champion. He had a gameplan, stuck to it and was the better fighter on the night and that was clear as day to see. Whether it was a knockout within the first 10 seconds of the night, or a points victory like it should have been, he should have won. The commentators said throughout the night Shogun won, the crowd knew Shogun was screwed when it was announced.

He was the aggressor and there is no doubt about it..... BUT, ever takedown he tried was stifled . He didn't land many power strikes or anything like that. He was a steady stream of body/leg kicks. Like I said earlier in this thread, that won't win you the title. You need to show your clealry dominate. He didn't... He was dominate but not engouth to prove he could be champion.

Let's not forget that none of us have ever scored a professional fight... as cannon said Shogun's takedown attempts were stifled and he never went for any fight-finishing moves. Just hit him hard in the legs. Now, Machida didnt do much either, but there's a reason they call it ''defending'' your title.

I will admit that when I was watching I thought Shogun was going to get the title, but I'm not surprised he didn't looking back on it.

source: Five Ounces of Pain
Quote
Kimbo Slice will face off with Houston Alexander at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale from the Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas on December 5, according to a recent report on The Times of Northwest Indiana citing sources close to Alexander.

Talk of this anticipated match-up between knockout specialists have been brewing for some time, as FiveOuncesofPain.com first reported on the possibility of the match-up back on October 13.

Apparently the bout has been set for a catchweight of 215 pounds according to the published report from nwi.com. The report goes on to state that the bout was originally targeted for 205 pounds before it became apparent that Kimbo would have been unable to successfully make the weight.

Slice will be making his official Octagon debut in the contest, with his last appearance in the cage being a second round TKO loss at the hands of Roy “Big Country” Nelson during Kimbo’s stint on the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter. He currently holds a professional record of 3-1 with wins over the likes of Bo Cantrell, Tank Abbott and James Thompson before suffering his first defeat to Seth Petruzelli during EliteXC: Heat in October of 2008.

Alexander was recently allowed to fight outside of his contractual obligations to the UFC where he got back on track with a first round TKO over Sherman Pendergarst at Adrenaline IV in September. Prior to his most recent victory, the heavy handed Nebraskan had suffered losses in his three last trips to the Octagon.

FUCK TO THE YEAH! I love a good ole slugfest and this is what we'll get. Great way to celebrate my birthday weekend..

Houston Alexander. Its either going to end very fast with Alexander KTFO Slice or Alexander looking like a fool and losing second round.

Anyone else watch 105 last night? I was in and out with hockey also on but I caught all of Couture/Vera and it was a pretty good fight. A little slow at first but it picked up as the fight went on. Couture was the obvious choice for a winner but it was at least a little close. All the judges gave Vera a round (presumably the 2nd but I haven't checked).

What's next for Couture? He can beat a young guy who kind of got pushed pretty quickly into the main event, and he can hold his own against some heavyweights, but is he ready for Machida? Can he even give Machida a fair fight?

As for the rest of the card, we have Hardy  vs. GSP for next year which should be another snoozer, and Bisping looked good (unfortunately) against Kang. Brown vs. Wilks was arguably my favorite fight of the night.

Lots of stuff coming up in the UFC until the year end continuing with 106 next week. I don't think I'm going to order it but they've built up the main event pretty good and I do want to see what happens with Griffin/Ortiz (hoping Griffin KOs the FUCK out of Ortiz) and Koscheck vs. Johnson should be a good fight too.

Couture and Vera was such a snoozer to me. I was seriously considering turning it... But I watched. Couture is a master at making people fight his kind of match. I really think if he got Machida he could possibly win... Sounds a bit crazy but I think if Couture got him on the ground it would be over. Fight of the night for me was Swick vs Hardy... I just really liked that fight and was hoping for Swick to beat him.

I am kinda stoked on next weeks show... I might go to a bar and watch it. Koscheck Vs Johnson is the fight I want to see something bad. It will be a pure balls out slugfest.

Fell asleep before the Koscheck fight :(. But I'm glad both Koscheck and Griffin won, and i'll have to find a way to watch those two matches later... Saunders should have won KO of the night btw.

Also...

Couture/Coleman announced for UFC 109... is that a dream match? For me it is.

Quote
Randy Couture and Mark Coleman have verbally agreed to a light heavyweight headlining bout at UFC 109 on Feb. 6 in Las Vegas, Sherdog.com has learned through sources close to the bout.

If signed, the bout will mark the first time UFC hall of famers have met in the Octagon. Both former heavyweight champions, Couture was originally slated to face Coleman at UFC 17 in May 1998 in Mobile, Ala., before the four-time Olympic alternate hurt his ribs prepping for that year
