UFC 102

Watched this last night and I must say that it was probably the best PPV i've seen since i've been watching the sport, which was when Brock Lesnar debuted. I'm very much as a 'casual fan' to use the wrestling term, when it comes to MMA and just watch the PPV's every month so I don't no much really about the guys and such.

I just loved the way alot of these matches were finished, it kind of had me excited for change.

Marquardt vs Maia - Over pretty damn quickly after a massive right hand, probably one of the best finishes i've seen. Credit to him for pulling back after knocking him down unlike a certain Dan Henderson. Link here

Couture vs Nogueira - I bought into the whole legendary fight the commentators were talking about. Nogueira rightfully so coming out the victor and could have ended the fight twice I think it was but Couture showed massive heart in getting back into the fight. Link here

Soszynski vs Vera - Seen soszynski a few times and was pretty impressed with him, but he just seemed totally outclassed tonight. The commentators said it best when they desribed Vera simply being too technical and was just picking soszynski apart. Link here

Duffee vs Hague - Quickest knockout in history, rofl! Link here

Jardine vs Silva -  Link here

Until Hague lost that he would have been right up there as a future challenger to Brock... But he got embarrassed.

TAG TEAM EXCELLENCE!

Poor Hague, always sucks to be on the receiving end of UFC records. His own fault for going for that fake.

Nogueira vs. Couture was worth the hype, but it would have been better if Couture pulled a Rocky. The first time he got out of a submission i thought he'd come back and win it. I knew it would go to a decision but that second round pretty much killed it for him. Even though he survived, that's all he did. Either way, very entertaining bout and really had that big match feel. lol at Lesnar shouting encouragements at Couture next to the announcers. I'd expect Nogueira to get the winner of Carwin vs. Brock.

Vera vs. the polish experiment was a little boring but I'm glad Vera won. He looks good at 205 but that division is stacked. Although if he keeps winning i wouldn't be surprised to see him get a shot against Machida or who ever.

Marquardt definitely deserved Knockout of the night honors, that was a great punch and kudos for being a gentlemen and holding back (and Dale, Bisping deserved what Henderson gave to him so whatever :P). Another one that deserves a title shot. Fuck henderson, give it to Marquardt.

Overall good show, glad I bought it and had friends over but the next two seem a little meh under Brock's event.

Also glad to see a couple people around here getting into MMA around here. Maybe we should start UFC 103 and TUF 10 discussions  (Y).

Think I'll have a wank over these tomorrow.
