I don't see how you got the impression that you shouldn't watch Spider-Man from my review, it was awesome :P.

The trailers had me a bit intrigued, I'll admit, but aside from the added charisma from Garfield, it seems to be more of the same - which would be good if I enjoyed the other Spiderman films, but I didn't ;). The first one was alright, the other two were just bland in my opinion. I find it a bit cheap that this film is basically copying from the first film as well; do I really need to see all the transformation into Spiderman again, when this story was told in the first film about 10 years ago? I'll most likely watch it at some point, I may even watch it at the cinema if i'm with some mates, but I'm not fussed if I miss out.

Really the only things that are the same are the things that need to be the same. Uncle Ben needs to die, Peter needs to get bitten, he needs to discover his powers and make the suit, that much you can't change, because that's Spider-Man, and I think they handled it as best they could. It's like how Batman's parents die or Superman being sent to earth, you just accept that. The only reason we're talking about it is because the movies were rather recent, but I don't think they could have told the story without redoing the origin.

The transformation itself is pretty different. The only thing that felt cheap was Ben's death, and that's only because it seemed like they were trying too hard to make it different. But literally all of that is in the first act, everything else is different and the movie itself is great. I honestly thought the writing vis a vis this whole bioengineering stuff they did was kind of mind-blowingly good for what it was. It leaves the door open for like 10 different new villains and they do a lot of background work for other things about Spider-Man's world.

I would definitely recommend it, especially if you didn't like the Raimi trilogy because it is different.

Think I'll have a wank over these tomorrow.

I like Emma Stone, think she has really improved from film to film and turned into something of a big name. Disliking Kevin Bacon seems so random as well lol. But you have given me an idea for a good thread  :D

I really want to watch the new Spiderman. The only marvel films I really like are Spiderman 2 and the X Men films though. Thought Thor was appalling. The Avengers was ok but not something I'd be likely to see again.

Some dick on youtube posted a comment spoiling the end for TDKR; well annoyed, just hoping that he was a punk guessing the end. Annoying thing was that it was on a video that didn't even relate to the film. I guess even if its true it won't ruin the film nor the end seeing as its supposed to leave on a cliffhanger; similar to inception. Glad the film has got really good reviews, I've heard its fantastic in imax; might try and watch it in that if I can.

Anyway, ignoring what I put the other week, I watched The Amazing Spiderman a few days ago and.... I really enjoyed it :D. It did everything I wanted the previous trilogy to do, Andrew Garfield basically makes Tobey Maguire irrelevant at this point, his interpretation of Peter Parker/Spiderman was just more accurate and enjoyable. Action sequences were fun and choreographed well, I never felt bored watching them like I did with the previous trilogy, all the characters seemed to work cohesively. It had its flaws, like the "injured" crane sequence just seemed incredibly pointless, the whole injury thing was completely forgotten about a second later as well and I felt gwen stacy's dad seemed typecast and just an addition. The origins story could have been ignored as well, it was executed better then the first film and I guess it has a bit of a purpose, but I feel the film could have still worked without it. However, those flaws are mostly nitpicking for a reason to say what I didn't like about it. Main point is that it didn't stop me from enjoying the film, it was a charming enjoyable film which hit all the notes I wanted it to hit. Its the best comic book film I have seen this year and for a while tbh, definitely better then The Avengers, but I'm sure TDKR will have a say on that. Hyped now for the next one they release.

Just went to the movies and saw The Dark Knight Rises. Awesome movie. I still think i would rank it right behind The Dark Knight but better than Batman Begins.

5/5 10/10 whatever little rating you want to give it. a must see if you were a fan of the other movies.

Spoiler:
I don't know if they are going to make another movie, but if they come out with a Robin movie like they teased i will be really really hyped for it. Plus Joseph Gordon Levitt is one of my favorite actors. Also i thought Anne Hathaway did a great job as cat woman.

If they do make another movie im very interested in seeing who the next villain is. Who's all left? Freeze? Riddler? Penguin?

Agreed, i saw it a second time and I think TDK was better but both were near perfect.

Spoiler:
They're not making another one in this series, at least not with Nolan. He said he might be interested in producing a Catwoman movie but that's all I've heard. Also, JGL wasn't necessarily Robin, that was just sort of a nod to the fans. He can be anyone, he can be Robin, Nightwing, Azrael, Catman, even just another Batman (as some of the Robins have grown up to do in the comics). The point was simply that someone would take the mantle of Batman after Bruce Wayne left.

So there probably won't be another movie in the continuation of this franchise, but they'll definitely make more Batman movies with another director. Plenty of villains left too. Killer Croc, Hush, Black Mask, Deadshot, Clayface, Riddler, and that's just to name a few.

I discussed what I thought of the themes in the movie in an article I wrote yesterday, if you're interested:

The Dark Knight Rises- 10/10.

I would actually say it was the best Batman film of the lot. IMO best story, best villains, best sidekicks, best fight sequences and Batman at his best. They kept that cool stealthiness Batman had in Batman Begins while having the scope of TDK. Best of both worlds.

Spoiler:
I really didn't like the first half of the movie but the second half was phenomenal. Anne Hathoway and JGL were amazing. Bane was pretty underwhelming. His voice was pretty damn goofy sounding. I felt he was one of the most shallow of all the Batman villains in the Nolan series. He started the movie strong than just diverted into another thug type villain.  Plus i was really off put by Bane "origin" i was really confused for a good portion of the movie until they said Talia was the kid who escaped. I did appreciate the Lazarus Pit reference with the jail scene and the numerous cameos.

I don't understand why they just didn't make JGL Robin. He essentially was a mix of Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, and a tiny bit of Jason Todd. Hell you didn't have to make him Robin, you could have easily made him Nightwing so he can be Robin without being named Robin. I sorta cringed at the ending "Look under my birth name." It was such a tease. Really the only problem i had with the Nolan movies. I also kinda wished they didn't show Wayne at the end of the movie. I would have liked to just see Alfred sit down look up and smile to end the movie.

This movie was good but I still put the Avengers over it as movie of the year. 8/10

I was expecting that to happen and was very happy it didn't.
