Seen a few movies lately,

Hud - Really liked this film and would definitely recommend it for any geezer out there. Pretty simple tale that can be related to quite easily, lovely cinematography that adds a real quality to the film, Paul Newman, Brandon De Wilde and Melvyn Douglas's performances are all brilliant. Overall a pretty flawless film imo.

The Big Sleep - I don't really know what to say on this one, the whole situation of when and how i watched it basically ruined the film; I'll give it another watch at some point.

The Iron Lady - Parents wanted to see it and invited me along so got to watch it for free, probably wouldn't have bothered otherwise. Kind of surprised me considering how much I hate politics; its quite light on that and leans more towards being a biopic. Great performance by Meryl Streep, my mum usually fucking hates her but had to admit that she did a really good job, I'd second her; layered performance and have to take my hat off to her. Overall I would say the film was pretty straightforward, one that would require one watch, therefore, not a great film, but a great performance I guess would be the main draw.

Sideways - Been meaning to watch this for a while but finally had the chance. During the first half hour or so I thought it was going to be full of pretentious snobby type humour, it kind of had that vibe, but luckily that diminished. Really liked the two main characters and I feel the chemistry they had and the contrast in their characters makes the film, liked both the performances but preferred Paul Giamatti, as a performance, but enjoyed Thomas Haden Church's dickish character, helped by having his character from George of the Jungle in the back of my head lol. I kind of feel like this film is less of a comedy and more of a feel good movie, kind of like the bucket list, but more layered and less gimmicked. A nice little film that could be watched any time, definitely recommend it.

Haywire - 7.5 out of 10
Haywire Review: Oh, Steven Soderbergh! | Better With Popcorn

If anyone other than Steve Soderbergh was directing this it would probably be closer to a 6. The plot is derivative and forgettable, and Gina Carano is wooder and kind of a terrible actress outside of the action sequences, but Soderbergh brings it to life. I don't claim to know that much about filmmaking, but if I did, I would imagine that this would be how it's done. Worth a watch, positives definitely outweight the negatives, but it's not movie of the year or anything.

Think I'll have a wank over these tomorrow.

War Horse
Beautifully shot and the film shows the best and worst of humanity. Their are Solid performances from the cast throughout thought apart from the horse no one has the chance to offer a standout performance.

One of the issues with the film I had was all the subplots tend to detract from the core story of a boy looking for his horse against all the odds.

The film is Very emotional I had tears in my eyes in the first 15 minutes.

8/10

The Woman In Black
I think this movie would have been amazing if it wasn't for the 12 rating, They really should let Daniel Radcliffe break free from his tweenie fan base. The 12 rating also didn't help with the atmosphere, as groups of girls in this age bracket just wouldn't shut up.

It's PG-13 in the states, seems about normal for this kind of movie. R ratings are undesirable because they make less money.

I just saw the Muppet Movie and its probably one of my favorite movies all year. So satisfying in so many ways. From all the awesome cameos to just the pure nostalgia.   (Y)

Safe house -- predictable action thriller plot but Denzel and the action sequences make it worth a watch. 7 out of 10.

The Dead Zone- Eighties film directed by Cronenberg with a very impressive performance from Christopher Walken. The storyline becomes a bit of a mess but some amazing scenes and makes for good entertainment.

Forgot to post, saw 21 Jump Street. Absolutely hilarious. Jonah Hill is awesome, supporting cast is great and it has one of the best movie cameos in a while. 9 out of 10.

I've heard lots of good things about that film even if it has Channing Tatum in it, might see it at some point.

I watched Horrible Bosses the other day, enjoyable flick and definitely worth a watch if looking for a laugh. I liked how it had an original concept, a lot of comedies have fallen into the trap of following the same formula and felt pretty boring, this wasn't the case here at all and I appreciated it. I don't remember many laugh out loud moments besides the three big stars in the film (Spacey, Farrell, Aniston) and their dickish ways, but for the most part it was an enjoyable film, no lull moments which have a downer, I hate those moments in comedies, this just remind and enjoyable ride the whole way through.

7-8/10

Also watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, alright film although I couldn't help but feel it could have been a lot better, I still enjoyed it though. I felt like it couldn't work out whether it wanted to be a drama or a comedy, added to the fact that it has about 8 different people as the main character it sometimes feels like a bit of a jumble, with few scenes to really connect with the characters which you might get with other films it takes away from the film a bit imo. Its still good for what it is, but the problems and issues the characters have in the film can sometimes feel like they come up a bit short and have a flat perspective on their problems, whereas if it just focused on like 3-4 different people it may have worked better. Just my opinion however, and this doesn't take away from the comedy aspects of the film, which could sometimes be golden, especially the ever so racist Maggie Smith character.

6-7/10

I purchased Your Highness the other day, might give it a watch tonight.

Loved Horrible Bosses. My favorite comedy last year I think. Best part of that movie was Jamie Foxx's character. Motherfucker Jones lmao.

Your Highness... not so much. It's okay but kind of stupid. Hope you didn't pay much for it lol

In terms of funny i agree about horrible bosses though Our Idiot brother to me was just an amazing movie all around and will go down as one of my favorites. Your highness was a disappointment honestly with a cast like that.

I also think Super and Cedar Rapids were great comedies too. very underrated.

I watched Cedar Rapids on Netflix. Pretty good but didn't do much for me. Super was amazing, better than Kick Ass IMO. Have you seen Cyrus?

I believe so. The one with Jonah Hill & John C Riley? I don't remember thinking it was too funny.

Speaking of Jonah Hill the last movie i saw was "The Sitter" It was alright. just another middle of the road comedy IMO.

I watched Your Highness the other day and found it hilarious, I love that whole medieval setting, the various gay undertones, James Franco was awesome as was Damien Lewis. The funny thing is the visuals were actually pretty good as well considering the budget. Probably give it an 8/10

Also watched 500 Days of Summer, thought it was alright, pretty original I guess but I kind of got this "yeah this is indie and therefore its cool" vibe from it. Good film but you wouldn't be missing much if you didn't see it.

Watched Dumb and Dumber last night, I don't think I need to review how great that film is.
