When it comes to comic book films I just judge it on whether I think it is a good film.
Batman is the comic book character I enjoyed the most as a child and the Burton and Nolan films are amazing. The other two are shit but laughably shit therefore somewhat enjoyable (and Carrey is fantastic as Riddler "Does anyone else feel like A FRIED EGG")
The first two Spiderman films are amazing. Spiderman 3 they tried to cram too much in and it failed. The X-Men films are always enjoyable. Iron Man was pretty good, Iron Man 2 was average (yet again crammed too much in) Blade films I personally think are shit. Hellboy was good. Sin City was very good. Hornet was pretty good. Old Superman's were good and Smallville is fucking amazing. Haven't seen the Hulks, Lantern, Thor etc but will do soon.

On the whole I would therefore say superhero films= (Y)
And despite the fact comic books are seen as nerdy superhero films are the best thing to take a girl to see. Girls love that shit and so its a good compromise as you don't want to watch a chick flick and she doesn't want to watch a war film/western/gangster.

Green Lantern
Went to see this today, and I've got to say it was rubbish. The 3D effects were none existent, the story was far too slow and the finale battle was rushed... I was just very bored.
2/10

Bridesmaids
LOVED IT! When it first started I thought this is going to be just like sex and the city, but once Lillian announced her engagement thought the fun and the laughs started. Got to be the funniest film I've seen at the cinema in a long time. So many scenes had me in stitches laughing. The character of Megan is a brilliant supporting character who provides so many LOL's.

lol Booty we finally agree on movies, we have the exact same score for those two.

And John, I agree with you. Comic books can vary greatly in the source material so there's a lot of different things to do with the movies. Even within a certain franchise. I mean, they could make 100 Spider-Man movies and they could all be different with different bad guys, origin stories, etc. Just like regular movies there's good, there's bad, and there's stuff in between. But as a whole I think they've done a good job with the majority of them.

Last movie I saw

Piranha 3-D

I didn't see it in 3D, just on TV, but it was still damned enjoyable. This is a b-movie done right. The action and deaths are over the top, there are plenty of boobs and the acting is actually surprisingly good. There are lots of underrated actors in here including Elizabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Adam Scott (older brother from Step Brothers, last season of Parks and Recreation, great "straight man" next to character actor), Jerry O'Connell is hilarious, Christopher Lloyd (although he's a little over the top, even for him) and fucking Richard Dreyfus in an epic cameo. Even Steven McQueen is pretty good in this, I think he's the next Jason Ritter (although his own career is just getting started, I hope you can see the comparison).  Obviously as an actual film it's pretty terrible, but it's the type of terrible you laugh at.

It's hard to rate b-movies because they're meant to be bad, so giving them a bad score would be pointless.Based on what I saw, action, decent acting, special effects and tons of boobs, you can't really give this bad score, so:

8 out of 10

Think I'll have a wank over these tomorrow.

I finally watched the Green hornet last night. i didn't like it as much as i thought i would. i didn't really find any of the characters likable. and i didn't feel the chemistry with any of them. i liked some parts of the comedy stuff seth rogan would put out there but i don't know it just didn't really fit for me. nothing really came together for me in it. so i was disappointed.

I also got around to watching the prince of persia move. which i had tried to before but couldn't get through because the first half of the movie was just so bad to me and i hated most of the casting choices especially the girl. but in the end the movie turned out better than i thought it would. it didn't hold a candle to the video game which is to be expected but it did some things with the time moving and stuff which i enjoyed and had some great effects too and i enjoyed the story too along with the setting. not a great movie but pretty good if you can get passed some stuff. could have been way better though.

Limitless i saw twice recently once at home then again at the movies and i absolutely loved it. though i always get the feeling any movies i love most of you guys will hate which is why i don't post in this thread too often.lol.

Cedar Rapids was really good comedy with a great cast too. Ed Helms and John C Riley are great in this and this movie seemingly came out of nowhere too and just caught me off guard. probably the best comedy of the year thus far i loved this movie.

The Adjustment Bureau was another one i saw recently and really liked. it was more of a romance than i thought it would be and i think that's what i loved about it. plus Matt Damon is pretty much great any time he is in a movie. really enjoyed it though.

Also saw Little fockers which was pretty meh and Just go with it which was surprisingly pretty good.

I feel like there is more im forgetting but oh well.

Just Go With It- This was fucking hilarious, really a shocker and I actually really liked Sandler and Aniston in it, thought they had great chemistry (Y) 8/10

A Matter of Life and Death- Decent Michael Powell film 7.5/10

Unknown- Liam Neeson film so was good 7/10

Matchstick Men- Yet again good film 7.5/10

12 Rounds- Okay, better than the chaperone lol but worse than the marine and the condemned plus Aidan Gillen kept changing his accent but he was probably the best part of this film along with Cena's pug ;D
Terrible script though, the girlfriend has a big argument with Cena because he has a nap rather than do the housework, you would think he had cheated on her or something 4.5/10

I know im late but Scott Pilgrim was a fantastic movie. The only knock i can give it is that it started off pretty slow but once the evil exes are thrown in it hits overdrive.  All the fight scenes are really well done andthe music that went along with the movie was awesome.  Probably one of my favorite movies of all times.

I saw the Green Lantern last week, it had potential but was pretty lame. Maybe a sequel with Sinestro as the main villain would be much better. 5/10.

Yeah I loved it and Im not a big fan of Micheal Cera.

All the characters were really well written, and casted.  The seven fight scene were all unique and really fun and the effects were fantastic. Like I said too all the music was great.
The movie was something pretty different in a time when most movies have a number at the end of them.

I just thought it was utterly pretentious and I really didn't like any of the characters. Everyone in that movie fucking annoyed me, and I usually actually like Michael Cera.

Anyway I saw Bad Teacher, Transformers 3 and Larry Crowne this past week but I'm putting reviews up on BWP for them so I'll post links when they're up.

Also saw The Town, decent movie, dunno where all the oscar hype came from but I liked it. 8 out of 10

Transformers: Dark of the Moon
http://betterwithpopcorn.com/blog/george-prax/movie-reviews/transformers-dark-moon-review

I actually enjoyed this more than its two prequels. The action was top notch, 3-D tech was great and the plot was decent. It all almost falls apart with all the shitty acting and dialogue but if you go into this accepting that it's a movies about 80s toys there's no reason why you shouldn't like this movie.

7 out of 10.

Bad Teacher
Bad Teacher Movie Review | Better With Popcorn

I originally thought it was okay coming out of the theater, then when thinking about it I realized it was absolutely terrible. The plot makes literally no sense and the gags are wasted and unfunny. The cast especially is wasted, only bright part to the film was Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel, and both their characters were underused and eventually ruined.

4 out of 10

Really hope Horrible Bosses doesn't follow suit :(

Conan O'Brien Can't Stop

Conan O'Brien Can't Stop Review | Better With Popcorn

If you don't like Conan, you likely won't like this documentary, but it's a lot of fun, I laughed the whole way through, but there were a surprising amount of awkward and uncomfortable moments as the whole point is to delve into the life of a man that was clearly bitter and angry about what happened to him on NBC. The timing is a little weird considering how long it's been since it all happened but I don't think they focus too much on what happened at NBC, instead looking more at the tour and at Conan himself. Lots of good cameos here although I didn't think it was that well directed. This was definitely all Conan though, so if you can't watch him on TV you're likely going to be annoyed watching him for 90 minutes straight.

Still it was a good documentary and I'm a big Conan fan, so I give it an 8.5 out of 10

Horrible Bosses
Horrible Bosses Review | Better With Popcorn

Absolutely loved this, hilarious the entire way through. The plot can be a little uneven at times but they're treading new waters with a really original concept and it's more than made up for by an awesome cast that has great chemistry. Really hope this does big things for Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day, they both deserve it, and Aniston is great (and super hot) in this.

8.5 out of 10

Went to the midnight premiere of Harry POtter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 The other night. I loved the movie i thought it ended the series greatly and is my favorite HP movie they have made. I'm not a big HP fan though, I have seen all the movies once and never read any of the books but this movie pulled me in and really focused around one thing which is why i liked it so much i think
