The Book of Eli
Good action, great visuals, and an interesting story. I like how the Hughes Brothers try to balance the "popcorn flick" aspect and the actual message, which, considering the subject matter (religion and the bible causing the end of the world), could have gotten very preachy. Instead, the movie leaves a lot for you think about but also satisfies you with a definite ending and a little thoughtless action. Denzel and Gary Oldman do some of their finest work, and Mila Kunis keeps proving that she's got some chops too. There's a lot you have to accept in this world that wouldn't normally make much sense, but if let that go there's no reason not to have a good time watching this.

Yeah I quite liked that film, it wasn't anything amazing and is probably one of Washington's weakest films but still good stuff. I'd give it same rating.

Rio: A good film to just sit and relax too

Mary and Max: Great film but bit weird, prefer Rio tbh

Mean Girls 2
The original is one of my favourite movies. Why can't perfectly good films be left alone? There was no need for a sequel. I do like Jennifer Stone though. :smitten:

Would have thought if Hollywood wanted to do a sequel they would have invested more money into the movie, it looks very cheap and it’s very Disney.

And to think one of the girls left desperate housewives to do that movie! :idiot2:

2/10

Bridesmaids:

Bridesmaids Review: Typical Kristin Wiig Comedy Does Not Disappoint | Better With Popcorn

Awesome comedy, will stand the test of time with the likes of Anchorman and 40-Year-Old Virgin. I recommend this for everyone, not just a chick flick. Good balance between the raunchy shit and the normal comedy/humor, great cast and no stunt casting.

9 out of 10, would watch again.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

I was actually going to give this a much better review, but the more I thought about it the more it pissed me off. I didn't pay for this movie and I never would have. The fact that people still do boggles my mind. This is literally the same movie they've made 3 times already, only worse and with less good actors to get in the way of Johnny Depp running around like an idiot. Seriously, wtf Disney?

I thought the movie was ok. Some laughs but was this movie necessary? The movie made 90  million over the weekend I believe.

The lowest of all the Pirates movies. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy myself during the movie, but at the same time I didn't have to pay. I never would have even seen it if I had to pay, I didn't even see the 3rd one and I've never felt the need to watch any of the movies more than once. It's mindless moviemaking, and it's frustrating when we all know they can make even action movies much better than this. This is exactly why I don't respect Johnny Depp.

I was a big fan of the first one its one of my favorite movies of all time. but the 2nd and 3rd not so much. tried to make it too complicated.

With this one i haven't seen but i just don't know how they expect anyone that isn't a girl and has a huge crush on johnny depp seriously as the main character because Jack Sparrow is someone who doesn't care and you never really feel for him too much. he's all "well i know im gonna get out of this situation somehow" type of guy and really doesn't seem to care too much and with him being the main guy in this i don't see how the watchers are supposed to care if he doesn't.

My favorite part of pirates was always the love story between orlando bloom and whats her name. with that gone my interest in seeing this movie has dropped a lot.

Well then you definitely won't like this one. It's the Johnny Depp show. They make no attempt to develop any other characters and as you know they dropped anyone who might take any piece of the limelight away from Depp. So it's basically just him running around like an idiot and making senseless decisions for 90 minutes. They don't even try to make sense out of any of it.

The Hangover Part 2

The Hangover: Part 2 Review | Better With Popcorn

8 out of 10, just as funny as the first. I don't understand why the critics are hating on it so much.

Double Indemnity - Great film with an intriguing plot.

One of my top 5 all time favourite films. I wrote my dissertation based around it  (Y)

Bicycle Thieves- Interesting film that is quite deep despite the simple plot. Not the best classic I have seen but worth a watch.

Watched Scott Pilgrim vs. The World finally. I have to say I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I found it to be a little pretentious and there literally wasn't a single likeable or relatable character in there. By the end I didn't want Scott to end up with Ramona, I just kind of wanted both of them to die :P. Obviously the selling point of this movie are the visuals and the music, and that was great, but the acting was truly horrible in some cases and it wasn't a case of it just being bad on purpose, but really just bad writing and bad actors. I was expecting a lot more from this, especially considering how awesome Edgar Wright usually is, and that I did like a lot of the people in the cast. Maybe my expectations were too high?

I don't think the film is for everyone but I found the fact Scott is a bit of a dick to girls interesting as it made him more three dimensional and he was a good guy at heart and he was meant to be quite nasty because he needed the learning curve. I think it is Wright's weakest film and wouldn't rate it a ten out of ten like so many people but I'd give it a solid 8.

Night and the City- classic film noir, decent stuff
