I think what put me off Gangs of New York was that Johnny dickhead. I liked the idea of the two rival gangs, the setting and the corruption and poverty of New York, but I felt like it didn't really focus on these elements as much as it should have. John C Reilly and Brendan Gleeson should have had bigger parts to play in my eyes. I might give it another watch in the future, I'll be honest and say I watched it in patches whilst falling asleep which didn't help. I don't want to sound like I hated the film, I didn't, but I think Scorsese could have done a better job with this one.

Watched The Birds last night, pretty good film. I found the whole birds attacking thing a bit stupid, it didn't seem to have much explanation behind why the attacks happened although I think that is down to the viewer to workout. I think that is my main gripe with the film although its something I expected to not like before watching it. Saying this it made it fairly amusing and I enjoyed watching it. 7/10

I watched The Birds too lol.
I think there not being a reason makes it more frightening- nature beat man kind of thing. The ending shot with all the birds sitting there staring at them get into the car was eerie, as was the creepy bit with all the crows outside the school.
The film has not aged well haha, I found its problem is that it was too slow in places and a bit ridiculous.
6/10
I think the end would have been better if they made it feel like the end like some music playing in the background or something; i didn't expect it to just end. Whilst watching the film I felt disappointed with it ending out of the blue, however I've warmed to it a week or so later. I disagree with the film not aging well, I didn't really have a problem with it and if anything it is one of the better looking old films.

I watched The Killing Fields last night. Thought it was a brilliant film, it took a while to hit its stride but once the film focuses on Dith Prans journey it becomes a really great film, this is not to say the start of the film was bad, it wasn't as it throws you right into the action and shows just how bad Cambodia was at the time. Some really tense moments throughout and a genuine fears for the characters whilst they are in Cambodia. Some moments had me left confused at times and the music can be either really good or terrible lol, but otherwise this was a very powerful film. 8.5-9/10.

Another Year (2010) 2010 was an excellent year for movies and I enjoyed this film a lot but it is not for everybody as it is at times laughably dry but I found it had the right amount of optimism and pessimism.
People try really hard to decipher the meaning of films like this but I think it is not making a statement about life, rather a character study on the different types of people you get.
I found Jim Broadbent's character very likeable and really felt for a lot of the characters. The character Ronnie was excellent.
8/10

As for Ace Ventura it is hilarious. When Nature Calls is my favourite, really wish they still made comedies like that.

Rango Movie Review | Better With Popcorn

Rango - 9 out of 10, great movie, one of the best animated films I've ever seen.

Think I'll have a wank over these tomorrow.

I saw this too. It was good I'd give it a 7/10. I'm surprised your review didn't mention that it is essentially the same plot as Chinatown.

I watched Murder, My Sweet today. A good film but I feel that there were quite a few loose ends.

I've never seen Chinatown. I did mention how the plot is pretty unoriginal and simple but I didn't think that was the charm in this. I think the charm was in the characters, and more importantly the visuals and music. Honestly some of the best animation I've ever seen and they didn't even use motion capture or anything like that I don't think. Plus even though I'm not a Fear & Loathing fan I did enjoy the tributes to that and especially the tribute to the Man With No Name. But ya the visuals really set it apart from any other animated feature I've ever seen so I have to give it a higher score based on that.

Plenty of funny moments in this one, and though it's probably limited in how re-watchable it may be, I found it very entertaining.  :D

I tend to think it's too subjective to give a score most of the time (especially considering how the score may be interpreted), but if I really must... 8/10:)

The Adjustment Bureau - 7.5 out of 10.

Not the best Dick adaptation or even the best Damon movie but a quality flick.

Paul Movie Review | Better With Popcorn

Paul - 7.5 out of 10

It's not anywhere near Hot Fuzz or Shaun of the Dead but it still a quality comedy. I found the balanced the Pegg/Frost comedy really well with the Rogen/SNL/Bateman more American style of comedy. Rogen and the SNL guys and even Bateman basically play the same characters they always do, but Pegg and Frost were a little refreshing. Frost wasn't a douchebag like he normally is and actually ended up being the more grounded of the two. Action was good, visuals were great and a good overall movie. Would have thought it might have been better with Wright directing, but it has nothing to do with the Cornetto trilogy so I get that they wanted to distance themselves from that.

Also, Hobo with a Shotgun. I don't know what the fuck review to give this because it was so amazing yet so terrible at the same time. SO gory and such cheesy dialogue, gotta love it. Just for the sake of giving it a score, (since it's the rules :ace), 10 out of 10 :P

The Crazies
This film is nothing new, we have all seen it before. Yet it’s still it is a rather good film, It has the tension and the violence.

Barry Lyndon- 9/10.
A great film, perhaps my favourite Kubrick film I've seen so far. Very long but a great drama with tragic but also humorous moments.

As for the Cornetto trilogy do you think they will release a boxset with each of the three films on the front once the final film is released?

They probably will John. Would definitely buy it seeing as I don't actually own the first two films. But we're still a while away from that as they haven't even written The World's End yet and it has a "tentative" 2014 release (although I wouldn't be surprised if it was earlier).

Not really a movie per se but I tried out Netflix finally. The Canadian version kind of sucks but it still has a lot of good movies on there that for 8 bucks a month I wouldn't mind watching again. Still not sure whether I'm going to keep it but I've already watched a couple of things on there so we'll see/

The one issue I had was the fact that we have download caps in Canada and it was a gig per hour of downloads for Netflix. Just got this in my inbox:

Quote
Starting today, watching movies & TV shows in Canada will use 2/3 less data on average with minimal impact to video quality. For example, watching 30 hours of Netflix movies & TV shows will only use 9 GB of data, well below most Canadian ISP data caps. Previously, 30 hours from Netflix typically used 31 GB.

Why the change? We know that many of our Canadian members have monthly Internet data caps. This new default account setting will significantly reduce the amount of data Netflix delivers to you each month.

You now also have the ability to manage how much data Netflix delivers to you. Visit Your Account to adjust your settings anytime you want. Regardless of which setting you choose –– Netflix is still only $7.99 a month.

As always, we will continue to innovate and try new things to ensure Netflix is a great experience without high data use. If you have any questions, please call us at 1-866-923-1277.

–Your friends at Netflix

Unstoppable
Such a good story and lots of action Fast cuts, zooms, crashes it's all in their. The films is also very tense (Literally chewing my finger nails) even if you knew what was going to happen.
9/10
