I personally thought Kick Ass was boring, stupid, lame and with a crap structure. However I am not a fan of that whole kickass type humour.

Naked (Mike Leigh) - A man flees Manchester after being threatened to be beat down after what is either rape or sex gone wrong with a girl. Heading to London the man encounters conversations with different types of people throughout the day and night.
This film is one that will stick with you, hilarious black comedy with a great score, great characters and David Thewlis should have been nominated for an Oscar for it. Ewen Bremner was great too.
9/10

Pan's Labyrinth (rewatch)- Seeing this film again I liked it as much as I did on the first watch- no more, no less. If you are cool and can watch subtitled movies because you aren't a complete weiner then this is an awesome film. 8/10.

I literally couldn't disagree with you more about Kick-Ass. It's meant to be an over the top superhero action movie and they pull it off to a tee. I gave it a 10 out of 10 on my site and I stick by it. Wonderful movie.

Think I'll have a wank over these tomorrow.

I was just waiting for jokes that made me laugh but I have quite a specific sense of humour. For me it was lame and the only thing worse would be "epic movie" or 'superhero movie." I found that the whole trying to be a superhero thing was just a tired parody which I have seen a million times before. Then came the excessive violence etc which improved the film to some extent but mehhhh.

Regardless to call it a 10/10 is a leap, come back to it in a year and see.

EDIT

Match Point- 7/10- decent thriller/romantic drama, bit silly but something to watch.

Blood Simple- 4/10 poor looking film with little in the way of relatable characters, full of plot holes, depressing and with very little in the way of entertainment. The coens humour has worked in other films but on this first attempt it just misses the mark completely. In its favour the use of dramatic irony is good but thats all there is going for this film.

Drive Angry 3D

Lots of fun for an exploitation / B-movie and really innovative 3D (to the point where it was surprising). 7 out of 10.

The Blue Dahlia (1946) Not classic noir like Double Indemnity or Out of the Past but an enjoyable watch due to the large amount of murder suspects. 6/10.

Somewhere (2010) Pretty dull and slow movie yet regardless of this it had some charm to it. 5/10.

I think I heard a review of that somewhere film and its basically just some rich person who is living the dream life but complaining about it? It sounded like a frustrating watch.

I watched Gangs of New York the other day. It didn't really seem like anything special, I felt like it could have built on some of the side characters a bit more. I found DiCaprio a bit weak in this film, Day Lewis is probably the best part yet I didn't find myself caring what happened at the end. Saying this though, it was a good film to watch, entertaining, but I think Scorsese has done better films. 7.5/10.

Scorsese definitely has done better films (no shit, he's done two of the best films of all time lol) but I LOVE Gangs of New York. It's been a long time since I've seen it so I won't rate it til I give it another watch but it's definitely higher than a 7.5 for me. I also agree it's not Leo's strongest performance but I guess that's what happens when you have one of the only actors who can out-act him in DDL in there lol. Still though, really like Gangs of New York

Hall Pass

Decent comedy, love Jason Sudeikis in this and the cast really saves it from being another crappy Farrelly Brothers comedy.
6.5 out of 10

I think what put me off Gangs of New York was that Johnny dickhead. I liked the idea of the two rival gangs, the setting and the corruption and poverty of New York, but I felt like it didn't really focus on these elements as much as it should have. John C Reilly and Brendan Gleeson should have had bigger parts to play in my eyes. I might give it another watch in the future, I'll be honest and say I watched it in patches whilst falling asleep which didn't help. I don't want to sound like I hated the film, I didn't, but I think Scorsese could have done a better job with this one.

Watched The Birds last night, pretty good film. I found the whole birds attacking thing a bit stupid, it didn't seem to have much explanation behind why the attacks happened although I think that is down to the viewer to workout. I think that is my main gripe with the film although its something I expected to not like before watching it. Saying this it made it fairly amusing and I enjoyed watching it. 7/10

I watched The Birds too lol.
I think there not being a reason makes it more frightening- nature beat man kind of thing. The ending shot with all the birds sitting there staring at them get into the car was eerie, as was the creepy bit with all the crows outside the school.
The film has not aged well haha, I found its problem is that it was too slow in places and a bit ridiculous.
6/10

Eat Drink Man Woman- A beautiful film about a father with three daughters who each disclose their love life at their weekly Sunday dinner. The film is directed by Ang Lee and is leagues better than his more heard of work such as Brokeback Mountain. 8/10.

Aguirre: The Wrath of God- The film that put Werner Herzog on the map, the film where he threatened to kill the leading man and himself if he walked off the set.
The film has a beautiful opening and ending shot, some of the effects are tacky but it gets away with this as the film is meant to be odd and such a brilliant portrayal of madness and fear. You never see the enemy but you see their arrows. Coppolla admitted this film was the inspiration for Apocalypse Now, I can see how.
8/10.

As for Gangs of New York it is a great film but not Scorsese's best (that would be Mean Streets.) Still Bill the Butcher is one of the greatest movie villains ever.

I Love You, Beth Cooper

I went into it expecting shit and whilst it wasn't exactly a masterpiece, I was surprised at how many hilarious lines/moments there were.

Watched Ace Ventura for the first time last night in a long time. Can't believe how incredibly bad but incredibly awesome it is lol. It was right at the cusp of the 80s style of comedies and it shows.
