Title: NFL Discussion
Post by: Majin HoHo on 15 May 2011, 07:30:32 PM
I think that the, lockout will put a scar on the NFL.

I went through this in hockey in 2004-05. Difference was that in the end, the players and the fans actually came out the winners. Sure, there were salary caps and salary rollbacks but the players got a lot more than money out of it and it didn't really affect many salaries in the long term. The fans got a more exciting product that still has issues but better than what we were seeing 10 years ago. In the NFL, I'm afraid that there are only going to be losers. This lockout was fabricated by greedy owners who don't care about anything but their bottom line. This is definitely going to hurt the sport.

As long as the players union stay together they will win. I've read that players have been training together at gyms and parks to stay in shape.

Im loving all this Tim Tebow hate, now that people have seen him play in the NFL and realize he is not a NFL ready QB.

I Hated Tebow all through college. he beat my team in the SEC Championship and cost us the national championship. we came back and made him cry the next year but still. I think he has a chance to be a good QB in the NFL if he can find an offense built around him.

Hes not a QB, hes not accurate past 5 yards and he doesn't have the speed like a Mike Vick does to tuck the ball and run away all the time.

Vikings are now 0-3 and extend their own record of having a double digit lead at the half... and losing.  Pathetic and my hatred for McNabb is just growing and growing....

Well Eagles lose and Vick with a broken Right hand lucky he throws with his left.Hopefully he comes back in a few weeks but Young needs to get in there!

Colts put up a good fight against the stealers but go to 0-3 thanks to a last min FG. I'm glad collins is out and i hope Painter gets the start next week. after a bit he looked good after he shook the butterflies.

Just heard, Vick's hand is only bruised, not broken! He could come back this week, unbeliable!

Post by: Rhymin' Greiman on 27 September 2011, 03:25:07 AM
His fall looked extremely minor during his "injury".  I kind of figured judging by the replays that there was no way it was broken.  The real question with Vick is: Does Vick get a lot of no-calls compared to the likes of Brady, Manning, and Brees when it comes to protecting the QB?
Title: Re: NFL Discussion
Post by: Leonardo Lunchbox on 27 September 2011, 05:04:23 AM
Hits were clean. You can't baby QB's any more than they already are. Fuck until Jay Cutler says anything about hits being a burden than everyone in the league needs to keep there mouth's shut.
Title: Re: NFL Discussion
Post by: Rhymin' Greiman on 27 September 2011, 06:35:46 AM
Honestly, I believe the only reason Vick gets the no-calls is because of his pocket tendencies.  If he didn't look so elusive every single time someone broke the line of scrimmage then the refs might think they need to do a better job in protecting him.  Just a theory, could be wrong.

But yeah, I believe McNabb and Cutler are #2 and #3 in the league right now when it comes to having to pass under pressure.  Vick being #1.

I said this last year it would be best for the Eagles to keep Kolb and trade Vick. Vick is made of glass, its week three and he has a concussion and broken hand. I feel if you go with Kolb you have a really young team that can all grow together and play for years.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What's wrong with our favorite team the birds hmmm...I think the players they signed have been misued.Asomugha, he should be used more on man to man coverages he had success in Oakland, but the Eagles are playing zone coverages which is wrong.Cromartie, I barely hear his name, put him on Punt Returns or Kick Returns he has the speed to change the game.Steve Smith, where is he, he was great in NY, he has hands like Avant, but no where to be seen! Jenkins has been up and down so far, but these guys are in a new scheme, so Jenkins will get better.Babin has been the lone ranger who has stepped up what 7 sacks? I thought Cole and Babin were great together but Cole got injured. The safeties are ok, Allen is still young, Kurt is hit or miss.I think the speedy Linebackers are whats the problem. They a fast but small, so lines are pushing them around like babies, especially durings blitzes and running plays. Its what week 5, if you let Castillo go, theirs a new scheme for them to learn, which won't help them at all.Offense time...I think the offensive players are making mental mistakes at times, fumbling, missing catchable balls.Things that the Eagles didn't do last year, we are seeing now. This week is the final test, the exam.If they lose to the skins, season's over.Play Kafka because pride won't save jobs at the end of the season.I think if the Eagles just get a win this week, they breathe easier...After the bye, Reid's teams do well, but facing the Cowboys isn't easy.Right now, I'm not sure if this team will right the ship, but plenty of times, I was down on them, especially in 2003, but somewhere or another...they surprise me.

Eagles and Vikings have the same record.... just found that funny considering how shitty the Vikes have played in the second halves of blowouts.  I haven't been watching the Eagles play so I'm not sure if they've had a shot to win every game or not.  The sad thing about the Vikings is that they have actually scored more points than their opponents on the season, they're the only team with a losing record that can claim that.

Post by: Majin HoHo on 13 October 2011, 08:12:24 PM
Shit the two or three of the Eagles losses, they had leads into the 4th quarter.Talk about stressful games, when teams think their players are giving up at times in games.Viking has the offense, but for some reason their defense hasn't clicked on all cylinders.
Title: Re: NFL Discussion
Post by: Leonardo Lunchbox on 14 October 2011, 03:45:07 AM
I said this week one to my dad, Eagles looked terrible against the Rams. The only time they played good was in garbage time.

I don't know why the Eagles went out and got talent they really didn't need. They should have went out and tried to get some linebackers or offensive linemen. I mean its all good you have the best WR's, CB's, Saftey's in the league but there is no chemistry between any of them.  Asomugha and Ronnie Brown were great picks up's but Asomugha hasn't been playing anywhere near his last few years and McCoy has stepped up which just  makes Brown pretty useless.

Colts suck this year. Falcons aren't as good as they should be so far. so my interest in the NFL this season has gone down a lot.

As for the Eagles they are just over hyped and overrated.

Viking has the offense, but for some reason their defense hasn't clicked on all cylinders.

Honestly, their defense has played very well in their losses.  Especially the defensive line with Jared Allen and Brian Robison tearing it up.  The linebackers haven't been great in coverage, as usual but they haven't really let opposing RBs and TEs run all over them.  The secondary, even without Winfield in the last game, has played well enough to win but often have moments where the D-line isn't pressuring the QB enough, giving the opposing QB time to pick them apart.  Overall I'd give their defense at least a B-.

The offense is honestly where I see the most issues.  Adrian Peterson is the best RB in the league, as usual, and he will find holes on his own even with one of the worst offensive lines in the league.  McNabb hasn't thrown any games away but he certainly isn't doing a damn thing to win them either.  He always looks so uncomfortable, even when there is no pressure around him.  A lot of the blame has to fall on the offensive line though, since they're ranked 3rd in the league right now in allowing QB Pressures.  The WR/TE core is talented but with McNabb throwing the ball.... not much going on there.  If they didn't have AD then they wouldn't have been close in any of their games this season I feel.

Some interesting storylines going into this week...

Will Tebow lead the Broncos to a win as he returns home?

Will Ponder survive his NFL debut against GB?

Will LT be able to do anything against his former team?

Will Oaklands desperation trade for Palmer pay off, or bite them in the ass?

I believe Tebow will have a great reaction from the Miami crowd, but he will get booed if the Broncos take a conmanding lead.I think Tebow could destroy that weak Dophins defense all day.As for Ponder worst team to face right now.I think he might have good plays, but Packers smack him around all day.LT will be highly motivated to show up his own team. The other team he never scored points against was the Chargers.I think he makes a impact later in the game when it matters.Lastly, isn't Palmer not playing today since the coach said he needs more time evaluating Palmer?

What a win for the birds, the boys looked flat and played like it too.The Eagles run the ball like crazy over the best run defenses in the league what 2 TD for McCoy? Vick looked great in and outside the pocket all game, and Romo never was able to get anything really going. Most complete game from the Eagles team, if they can do that on a weekly basis, woah tough team to beat in the NFC.

Peyton Manning's 14-year career as a member of the Indianapolis Colts is coming to an end.
Sources close to the team told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the announcement will come at a press conference in Indianapolis on Wednesday.

The decision to pass on the $28 million bonus owed Manning and not to pick up the four remaining years on his contract means Manning will become a free agent, and sources say that he intends to continue to play.

The Colts decided not to pick up Manning's option because of concerns they had over his readiness to play in the NFL again.

The four-time league MVP missed the entire 2011 season after having his third neck surgery in 19 months, a fusion of two vertebrae. His doctors have medically cleared him to resume his career.

Manning has broken all of Indianapolis' career records for quarterbacks and had never missed a start before last season. He's taken the Colts to the playoffs 11 times, captured seven AFC South titles in eight years, won two AFC championships, one Super Bowl title and a Super Bowl MVP Award.

I smell the Dolphins, Redskins, Cardinals need a QB like Manning..

Being a huge Manning fan and a huge colt fan im not thrilled with whats going on. honestly i don't see why they just can't sit luck for a few years and have him learn fromone of the best QB's ever in manning. But it is what it is and i'l be rooting for both the colts an manning in the future.

I really hope he doesn't end up with the Washington, Miami or The jets. never liked any of those teams and the divisions are really tough.

Of the teams that come to mind that i wouldn't mind seeing him on. Arizona just because him and Fitzgerald should be great.and I think Kansas City would be a good place for him.

The Colts organization is so in love with Luck, they think it would cause problems with Peyton and Andrew which is not true.If I was a QB, Peyton would be the top three QB's I would like to learn from, he would be there.

Any Cowboys who are dreaming Superbowl pump the brakes sucka, last night's game had positives and negatives for both team. Now the second half came down to the Rushing game. The Giants could not stop Murray and with the fear of Murray to break one, it opened up the passing lanes for Austin/Witten/Bryant and Ogletree.Wow 2 TD's for Ogletree the Cowboys found a gem there.Don't get too excited as this might be the biggest performance of the season for him, the NFL is just like that. The Cowboys at time looked unstoppable and we have seen them do this before. For years this has happened and I would say if the Cowboys want to win a Wild Card spot or the Division they better get that great production like last night the whole section not in spurts. As for the Giants last night, they finally realized losing Jacobs and Manningham did effect them! Jacobs especially as Bradshaw is not a feature back as he saw the Cowboys knock his ass around the whole night. Before Jacobs could be plugged into the game and wham he would smash defenders just like that.If I am a Cowboys fan right now be happy by this win, if I am a Giants fan be very afraid the blue print is there, they better make some adjustments.

Interesting match-ups this week, Patriots at Baltimore. Both are coming off losses last week in crazy fashion I consider this game a toss up.Let's see what powerhous is able to get back on the right track.Last week Joe Flacco went 4-14 on third down conversions, if the Ravens want to beat the Patriots and keep them off the field that has to change this week.Eagles at Cardinals...two undefeated teams going at it this week.Who would of thought the Cardinals could upset the Patriots with Fritzgerald with a couple of catches last week? Kolb is starting to look like the QB their saw spurts of in Phila, but I know the Eagles will come hard with the blitz this week, Kolb better be ready or he'll be fish food for the birds.Chiefs at Saints, NO WAY IS THE SAINTS GOING 0-3! Also Green Bay vs Seattle is a good match-up.Packers feeling good after their win against the da Bears, let's he how Rodgers do with the Seahawks yelling like crazy like they do in Seattle. As for the Seahawks...Wilson biggest opportunity to date.He wants to prove he's arrived in the NFL, great time to do it against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

The wrestling fan in me wants to believe this is a work and that the only real reason they are doing this is so when they do bring the real refs back then people will complain less about their calls. I mean every year everyone complains about the refs. the only difference this year is that they have an excuse and can throw easy blame on the replacement refs.

Talk about a defense minded game last night the G-men and Birds. Both teams didn't let the other get ahead or truely show their offenses in the first half.I must say both teams in the second half started to kill each other's defenses.Eli Manning tore up that secondary especially when Asomugha went out.As for the Eagles, McCoy killing that defense from the outside to the inside late, the Giants was chasing a mouse around the field! I thought that was the advantage to give Vick time to throw to Celek who was wide open at times.I guess people still don't know the scouting report of Celek and how good he is right now.Late in the game, I wished the Eagles would of scored a TD, instead giving Eli only having to get his team in field goal range.Crazy last push for the Giants, pass interference calls, that were wanted, but that last one on the Giants player, should of been on both, since Asomugha was holding too lol.Well it came down to the field goal, Tynes missing right, I WAS JUMPING IN THE AIR LIKE A SCHOOL GIRL SAYING YES! All of sudden I see Reid not celebrating, and I knew ohhh shit he called Timeout! I thought Tynes would be more ready to kick, and boy he had the distance going straight down the middle it just died a couple of yards short.Wooo stressful game, two solid wins vs the Giants and Ravens, good win there.

I'm glad the real refs are back so people can shut up about the replacement refs, It also makes me happy that the real refs are blowing calls left and right and showing that they weren't much better than those replacements and that people were just way overreacting because they had an excuse to.

I bet if no one told anyone that there was new refs there wouldn't be anywhere near as much complaining.

Few match ups I love this week.First one is Packers facing off with the Texans.Houston losing Cushing, their stud Linebacker is a huge loss for their defense. They still have one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL, and the Packers are being exposed lately on defense. As for the Packers, let's see where are they players heads at right now losing to the Colts after having a 21-3 lead last week.I can honestly see either team winning, but I think the Packers let the ball fly against the Texans.Another game that draws my eye is the Giants vs 49ers.This was the NFC Championship return game from last year, but that was last year..the Giants had more fire power outside of Cruz and Bradshaw, this year their offense is up and down.As for the 49ers, many have said that this team is the one of a few most balanced teams top to bottom in the NFL.If the 49ers Defensive Line dominates the Giants Offensive Line, Eli will be eating dirt all day! Some of other games I like Cowboys vs Baltimore, it comes down to Romo making smart decisions vs the Ravens forcing Romo to rush and throw into the spots they want him to throw.Lastly my Eagles take on the Lions.Last week, the Eagles had plenty of chances to score on the Steelers, especially that first drive, hopefully this week Vick can have a clean game.As for the Defense, Megatron is going to get loads of passes his way...the Eagles defense can stop this with a break out game for Cole and Babin, and boy they are starving to break out! Should be a hell of a Week 6 in the NFL!
