Title: WWE Mayhem & TotalWrestling Acquired by Wrestling Fusion
Post by: Awesome on 11 January 2011, 11:42:09 AM
You can view the full announcement by clicking here (https://www.wrestlingfusion.com/aquires-mayhem-totalwrestling/473/), but here is the extract of what it means for WWE Mayhem.

Quote from: Wrestling Fusion
What does this mean for members of WWE Mayhem?

First, it means a name change. Not only because we do not wish for it to only appear as catering to WWE fans, but also because we’d like to fully bring it under the Wrestling Fusion branding, and as a result it is now the Wrestling Fusion Forums – though we may shorten this to WF Forums depending upon feedback.

As would be expected with the name change, it also means a change of location. The forums are now located at forums.wrestlingfusion.com .

Another change is a change in software, as the forums are no longer running on vBulletin, but are instead running on SMF – which although it may take getting used to at first, we hope will be a welcome change.

As for Forum Staff, other than the former owners being demoted back to regular members, we have no current plans to change or add to them.

Feel free to use this topic to ask/discuss any of the changes going forward.

I like the name change, Wrestling Fusion has a nice ring to it.

I don't really have any questions other than will there be any skins added in the future? Because whilst this one isn't bad, per say; it would be nice to have a variety.

Cool cool, so who is the owner of the site now? Will take some getting used to the look of the forum but I'm sure I'll adapt :P.

There should be no issue doing so - though there may not be as many being made until the forum software has reached 2.0 Final. For currently available ones, please see here (and click on SMF 2.0 RC4) (http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/) - let us know if there's any you'd like to see, but please note that depending upon modifications it may not be wise to have too many as it may be harder to keep them all compatible.

You can change the skin by going to your Profile and clicking on "Look and Layout", and then at the top there should be the option to change it (the only other ones currently installed are "Curve" and "Core").

who is the owner of the site now?

/me whistles innocently  ;)

Didn't realise there was already a choice, decided to use Core as I like the look of it. Cheers for the reply.

Also, you can just use the old mayhem url and it will redirect you here incase you can't remember this one.

There wasn't as I'd originally disabled it - I enabled the ability to choose when I saw you post that  :P

Alternatively, you can bookmark it too ;)

A link to the Forums is now on the main site.

Absolutely no problems with this, other than the fact that I don't have my own smiley anymore :prax

Looking forward to growing with the new site!

Do we get a "New Post" button? or do we have to manually see where there are new post? Because the new post button is pretty much all i use.

Found this (https://forums.wrestlingfusion.com/index.php?action=unread) at the top of the Core Theme. It's probably around on the default one somewhere.

is it possible to get a skin with a bit of colour? It's just that they all look so white, bland and boring... need one with a bit more of a POP!

Now added the Unread links for this skin too.

The first should be fine, the second isn't compatible with this version. (EDIT: Inferno now installed)

For anyone who wants to use the WYSIWYG editor on the posting page by default, you can enable it in the Look & Layout section of your profile (Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default.).

I use my iPhone quite a lot, but I find it easy enough to visit the forums without the app. If it's free for you to install it, then go ahead; but I wouldn't bother if it's going to cost anything. Also, is there a way of embedding YouTube videos onto this forum?

It would be free to install for the forums, but people would have to buy the app if they want to post with it on iPhone, Android, Windows Phone 7, or WebOS (the free version for those is limited to read-only, Nokia and Blackberry get free full versions I believe) - though its use would obviously not be limited to just here.

Unlikely as it's mostly just me - Caz has now joined as a writer, but was obviously already here on the forums (and there were no forums for the site before this).

or i see they got another wrestling site. or were they not really forums or something?
TotalWrestling had been closed for over a year, so it's doubtful that anyone checked it any more. There was a forum database (though no forum files), but there are no tools currently available to merge them together. The possibility might be revisited in future, but as mentioned in the announcement, there are no current plans to do so.

The site posts on the other hand have (as also mentioned in the announcement) now been merged with the site.

Been having some problems with the WYSIWYG editor. Coded the WFFL post with it and it completely messed up, deleted all the extra coding it added and did the same thing in the regular one and it worked.

It was a bug when used with WebKit-based browsers, fix has now been applied.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to wish the new owners the best of luck with this new venture. I had big plans for WWEMayhem when I took over but unfortunately other things got in the way and I just wasn't in a position to put the plans into action.

I'd like to thank Awesome for all your help during my time with the site. You were fantastic at giving me a much-needed kick up the arse when things needed doing and overall a good guy to have around.

It was disappointing to let the site go to somebody else but in the long run it was for the best. I know that the site will now be able to grow and I can already see the change in effect.

Finally, a big thanks to everyone who backed us when we first took over. I know this site has been through a lot in terms of ownership issues and it meant a great deal to have you guys accept us, it was just a shame we were unable to fulfill our plans and repay that respect you showed us.

Once again, thanks - and good luck.

Will

Just had a thought what do people think of changing the movies, TV and music section, for me personally I would prefer it if it was changed to entertainment and had Movies, TV and music sections as individual sub sections. I think it would look a bit more organised.

By the way, for anyone who doesn't have their local time set (if different from the forum default), you can set the Time Offset in the Look and Layout section of your profile.

Tapatalk has now been removed, and has instead been replaced with a mobile theme that supports BlackBerry OS (Version 5.0 and above), iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad), Android (Version 1.5 and above), WebOS (Palm Pre), Opera Mobile (Version 10.1 and above), Opera Mini (For iOS and Android), and Firefox Mobile for Android. Anybody visiting on something running any of those should be automatically detected and shown the mobile theme, but you can still use it even if you're on your desktop too by changing your current theme in the Look and Layout area of your profile or clicking on the Mobile link in the footer.

The site is now sporting a link to the forums in each post on the main site instead of only the link in the menu bar. Not only should this hopefully give more visibility that we have forums to be able to discuss wrestling (as the link will be to the forum index), but when each new post is on something that has an appropriate topic in the forums, the link will be to that thread instead.

I would assume that whoever would be responsible for taking it over would need contact the current owner about it, and sort things out between them.
