lol you beat me to it. Unfortunately my immediate interest in the contest has curtailed since Greece bowed out early  on Saturday... Still cool to see a lot of underdogs make it through and the powerhouses struggle or even get eliminated. To me there's no clear favorite yet. Turkey could take it for all we know.

Should be an interesting rest of the tournament.

Last nights match was great and what a finish from Nihat for the last goal and Cech last night in my opinion was terrible in goal he was at fault for the Second as wasnt to great for the whole match

As for winning the tournament i see Spain or Holland winning but with the way Holland are playing i think they have a better chance of doing it

The amount of unbelievably bad offside calls during this tournament has been shocking, yet UEFA/FIFA will still come out and praise the officiating at the championships a big success. The offside rule should be scrapped if it's getting this hard for linesmen to judge on or off.

Italy VS France will not go to Penalty Shoot-out
From BBC

Italy and France will not face a penalty shoot-out on Tuesday no matter what the results are in the final games in Group C, Uefa has confirmed.
The European football governing body had suggested a shoot-out could be used to determine which of the two teams finishes bottom of the group.
But a Uefa official attempted to clear up the confusion over the matter.
"There is no way that France and Italy can go to a penalty shoot-out," a spokesman told BBC Sport.
The Netherlands have already secured top spot in the group but the other three teams in the so-called 'Group of Death' are still battling to clinch the other quarter-final berth.
A Romania victory would ensure their passage through to the knockout stages and effectively render the France-Italy game meaningless.
But on Monday it was claimed that should Romania go through and France and Italy draw then their group positions would be determined by a shoot-out.
However, Uefa has clarified that a penalty shoot-out would only be used to determine which team qualifies when two sides finish level on points and cannot be separated by goals scored.
Here is the official Uefa regulation: "If two teams which have the same number of points, the same number of goals scored and conceded, play their last group match against each other and are still equal at the end of that match, the ranking of the two teams in question will be determined by kicks from the penalty mark, provided no other teams within the group have the same number of points on completion of all group matches."
----------------------------
Shit i was looking forward to this match hoping it would go to a penalty shoot-out it adds drama to a game and you have something to look forward to at the end of the match Penalty Shoot-outs are great well there not if your an England fan but there still great to watch

Like the guy who was laying flat out on the floor off the pitch I think it was and was still deemed as being active:lol2:

Holland are ripping the shit out the tournament and just hope they wont choke later on like they usually do along with Spain.

Good to see the old hasbeens also known as the French struggling :D

Yeah the decision in the Italy Holland match was horrible Van Nistelrooy was a mile offside and the player wasnt interfering in play he was lying of the pitch the pitch injured i still dont see how that goal was given

But Yeah i still see Holland winning this but as Dale said i hope they dont choke like the usually do

I've gone on a Aussie betting website and might get my dad to put in a small bet for me on 3 underdogs. Like 5$ or something

To win Euro:

Turkey $21
Russia $31
Sweden $34

Anyone think i might have a chance?

I think you'd have more chance on Croatia tbh. They look a good package.

Yeah if i was to pick an "Underdog" it would be Croatia they look to be the better team them some left in the tournament personally i think Holland will win i can see it being a Holland Spain Semi Final with Holland winning and then a Croatia Holland final with Holland being the winners that the way i think it will go

I have a good feeling about Turkey. That team never gives up, they're going to make strides this year. I doubt they'll win but you never know.

I'm really pissed that the band of divers in Italy got to make it through. We have a big Italian community here in Montreal (including a top sports ratio host) and they're all going nuts like it was destiny or something...

they conveniently neglect to mention that France was playing with a man down and a few key injuries the whole game, not to mention that the both red card and penalty kick which led to the victory were marginal at best. Not to mention that Henry almost scored several times. They're talking of it like it was a walk in the park when reality they barely beat a French that didn't even really want to win.

I can't wait for them to get destroyed.

Holland will win it i have no doubt about it

As for the Russia Sweden Match its wasnt a bad match and I'm not really surprised Russia won the played well and Arshavin played Great he looks a good player i saw him in UEFA Cup and he looked a good player too i would mind Liverpool bidding for him

And Also Spain have beat Greece 2-1

So the Quater Finals looks like this

Porutgal vs Germany
Croatia vs Turkey
Spain vs Italy
Holland vs Russia

Some good matches in there im looking forward to all them  should be good

Well here in Australia (when i checked yesterday) Croatia were $8.50. That sounds reasonable but i would rather bet small on a small team and possibly win bigger money. Holland are favourties in Australia and probably around the world.

The only games I'm going to watch although, Croatia vs Turkey promises to be possibly very interesting while Holland will squash Russia. I've got Portugal vs. Croatia in one Semi, Italy vs. Holland in the other.

I think the Semi's will be

Portugal v Croatia
Spain v Holland

And then a Croatia Holland final with Holland running out winners

Those are basically the four teams I'm rooting for so I hope you're right. Although as I said I have a feeling Turkey will surprise people.

Oh well that's Portugal out lol. I'm highly optimistic for Sunday and i've worked out that ITALIA can be the "Streak Killers". They can end Spain's winning streak in Quarters, end Holland's winning streak in Semis, and then end Croatia's winning streak in the final. IT'S INEVITABLE!

Holland will win

Italy wont get past Spain

As for Portugal going out im glad they did but i honestly thought they would be beat Germany but i still think Croatia will go through tonight and then beat Germany in the Semi's

They've just earned the right to get beaten by Germany. But still, semis for a country such as Turkey is ah-mazing. happy for them even though I'm not a big fan. But with all the injuries/suspensions they hae, Germany's going to the finals, plain and simple.

What a crap match that was until the last 3 mins of Extra Time it was one of the worst matches Ive ever seen well done to the Turks to come back again this time with the last kick of the match

I still think Holland will win know I'm going to say Turkey will beat Germany and it will be a Turkey Holland final

I dont know what it is about Turkey but after the last two matches it will be a hard match for Germany

I have to cheer on Russia now. Why?

A) Part Greek so I'll never ever like Turkey.
B) Part Polish so I'll never support Germany other than against England. :D
C) Part Italian so I can't support the Spanish lol.

I'm completely greek and I'm kinda rooting for Turkey just cause they're underdog. But a large part of me wants them to get their shit ruined by Germany. Tomorrow should be great either way.

Well i see Germany going through tonight i can see it being a good game but with all the injuries and suspensions affecting the Turkish team i cant see them getting a good result there 3rd Choice Keeper may even have to play outfield because of the injuries and suspensions
So Turkey is really up against it for this Match but even with everything that's affecting there team i can still them putting up a fight
Germany to win anyway

As for the Spain Russia match this should be  a great match and i dont think it will be anything like when they played earlier in the tournament a Russia have just gotten better since then but i still think Spain will win and then Spain will go on to beat Germany in the Final

Damn that was a helluva semi-final. Shame about the annoying thunderstorms in Vienna ruining the game on TV. I don't think the game could have went any better for myself than it did, and I also got to rub it in a bit to the Turks*. :lol

*After the Turkey/Czech game I went to the Turkish takeaway for food and they were all dancing and celebrating throughout the night thereafter. After tonight's Germany/Turkey game I went back and they were all stunned silent. Karma's what you get for rubbing it in the Greeks after them going out and Turks going through.

Franny I love you.

Great Semi though, I can't believe Germany scored that late, I had a feeling Turkey might win but I'm glad I bet on Germany, lol.

That was a great match Credit to Turkey they played great throughout the match but Germany had a shocking first 20mins also Turkey could have been 3 or  up by the 20th min but they weren't and its there own fault they went out the didnt take the chances they made but i always expected Germany to go through in the end

Now i cant wait for tonight's match Spain vs Russia should be a great match

Post by: RyPrax on 27 June 2008, 03:21:24 AM
Wow, pure ownage by spain. Missed the game cause of work and haven't seen the highlights yet but 3-0 at this stage over a fairly defensive team is always impressivle.

Germany vs. Spain in the final is really how it should be.
Title: Euro 2008
Post by: Mr Kenny! on 27 June 2008, 02:14:51 PM
Spain played well in the second half but neither team were good in the first half it was a great result for Spain

But now for the final there without Villa who injured himself take a free which will be a big loss for them but surely Fabregas has to start in the final in his place he controlled the game when he came on and set up 2 goals with 2 great passes so i think he will start just behind Torres in the Final

Now i really think Spain will win winning 3-0 and not really playing to great is a great result and Germany's defence isn't great and will have problems dealing with the pace of Torres and with Fabregas's passing i just think Spain will beat them but Spain's defence isn't too great either but i think Spain will win it

Well done Spain. Silva (i think) should have been sent off for head butting Podolski. Not often Italian officials get things wrong but the guy tonight had a shocker, gave everything Spain's way although they outplayed Germany to deserve the win.

It was a good match, I'm glad Spain won also. Torres played absolutly great IMO, he didn't stop working and his goal was gold.
Title: Euro 2008
Post by: Mr Kenny! on 30 June 2008, 12:24:40 PM
Yeah Spain deserved to win but if the ref was going to send off Silva he would have to send of Podolski because he was the one who started it and put his head up to Silva and to be honest it wasnt much of a head butt either

Anyway yeah Spain played great in that match and Torres was pure class and what a finish and he was unlucky to hit the post I'm still confused as to how Germany got to the final there defence was shocking the only good player in there defence was Lahm and last night he was terrible

But overall it was a great tournament with some great matches and brilliant football being played but in the end the best team won
